It seems that Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may pave the way for the Star Wars TV series that has been in development hell for years. Disney’s new process is to keep projects viable between films. Hence we now Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. With a new Star Wars film on its way (2015) it looks as if the mouse may dust off those Star Wars TV scripts that have been sitting around for years. Initially the problem with producing the TV series was that George Lucas said it was too expensive (5 million an episode). Now that might not be as much of an issue with Disney Dollars funding the series. The site Blue Sky Disney had this to report:

“From what I hear behind-the-scenes, Bothans are telling me that this is a good possibility. Although, it might not be the dark brooding adventure that was described. There is talk going on, but nothing definite yet as to what a new series could entail.  In fact, it may not even happen in the time it was originally set.  Again, preliminary talks are still going on so many things could change but right now there's a debate as to whether or not a television show would take place in between the Prequel Trilogy and the Original Trilogy, or should they go forward with a series that's between the Original Trilogy and the Sequel Trilogy.  This way they could play on the new mythos this new trilogy is creating”.

Obviously, this is nothing official. It looks as if they are still trying to figure what era this series should take place in. With the new animated series “Rebels” arriving in the fall of 2014 taking place between Episodes III and IV, it us unlikely we would see another TV series take place then. What would be fascinating is to see a TV series that would deal with the events post Return of the Jedi. We have a thirty year gap between Episode VI and Episode VII

Perhaps it might just be better to let this TV series go and concentrate on the films for now.
