It looks as if Sony Pictures is really rounding out Spider-Man’s cinematic universe. Yesterday, on The Daily Bugle’s Tumblr, they teased an article by Ned Leeds, of all people, that Thomas Fireheart was helping to rebuild the city after the Lizard’s rampage. Here is the full “article” from The Daily Bugle:
By Ned Leeds, City Bureau
Smash the tail of a lizard, it grows back new. Smash a school with the tail of a lizard, it stays smashed. Until now, that is.
An endowment to the New York City public schools system from Fireheart Industries will help pay for the repairs to the damage suffered by Midtown Science High as a result of Dr. Curt Connors’ rampage three months ago.
Casino owner and businessman, Thomas Fireheart, presented the donation to the city school’s chancellor in an afternoon ceremony at the school. The gift of two million dollars will cover the entire estimated cost for repairs.
Attending the event, senior student and co-captain of the school’s football and basketball varsity teams, Eugene “Flash” Thompson said, “This place was a freaking mess after the Lizard smashed it up. But it would’ve been a lot worse if it wasn’t for Spider-Man.”
This is great way to bring new fans into Spidey’s universe and reward the die hards with some fun distractions until the Amazing Spider-Man 2 arrives in theaters. Will we actually see Thomas Fireheart (aka The Puma) in the a Spider-Man movie? That would be something.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 arrives May 2nd, 2014.
Who is Thomas Fireheart aka The Puma? Here is the official Bio from Marvel.com: “Thomas Fireheart is a wealthy Native American businessman, but Thomas has a hidden side to him and the rest of the world. His New Mexico, Indian tribe began a secret program that combined mysticism with controlled breeding in an effort to bring about one perfect warrior to act as their protector. This warrior was called Puma. Puma was a mercenary-for-hire, and the Rose had employed him to assassinate Spider-Man. Puma may have actually succeeded if not for the intervention of the Black Cat. Since then, Puma and Spider-Man have fought many times, and Puma has even fought the Beyonder” (read the full biography here).
