Warner Brothers has officially changed the release date of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The film, which was initially scheduled to go head to head with Marvel’s Captain America 3, was scheduled for May 6th, 2016. Now the film will be released on March 25, 2016.
Variety, our source for the story, sited no reason given by Warner Brothers for the change. Our own Rob Vaux sited April as being the new tent pole month for the studios. Captain America: The Winter Solider is proof that it is. The end of March gets a jump on those April 2016 releases. This now puts Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice against Brett Ratner’s Beverly Hills Cop. I would expect that film and any other to move their release dates.
What do you think Maniacs? Did Guardians of the Galaxy signify Marvel’s power at the box office? There was an untested/ unknown property and it is cleaning up for the studio. Did Warner Brothers do the safe thing and move the date? Is Marvel unstoppable? Who was making plans to see both in the same day? However, which were you going to see first? Sound off below.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice features Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter and Scoot McNairy.
