The MPAA has sided with MGM/UA in a dispute between the makers of the James Bond films and New Line Cinemas, the producers of the AUSTIN POWERS film.

According to Variety, the Motion Picture Association of America ruled New Line's title was an unauthorized satire of GOLDFINGER, and ordered the studio to drop the name from the title of the POWERS film. Over the weekend, New Line ordered theaters to destroy copies of the AUSTIN POWERS poster, and changed the movie's website.

New Line reps say they will appeal the decision, but for now, it's officially back to AUSTIN POWERS 3.
