DC Driect's 13" Deluxe figures get their latest addition with a classic image of the Dark Knight. While the figure maintains the quality of the earlier members of the series, Batman hasn't translated as well as some of the others. The gray spandex shows the weave of the fabric more than other colors, making the costume appear like pajamas. Still, there's a lot to love here, and fans who like the lighter sides of Batman's costume history won't mind this one detracting element.

The vinyl bracers and cape hang very well and compliment the look. Articulation is standard for this series, allowing for a good range of poses. The cowl is part of the head sculpt, so Bruce Wayne can't make an appearance, but then, without a martini glass accessory, what would be the point? The figure does come with four different batarangs, and it's exciting to have the varied options. Styles include one resembling the programmable batarang from the second batman film, a classic fold-up batarang, and a discus-style batarang I've honestly never seen before.

The brown utility belt harkens to a very old-school style Batman, but then those who might be looking for a more contemporary 13" Batman figure should look into the collector's figures from the latest film. This figure stands best alongside the other traditional costumes already available for figures such as Green Lantern and Superman. Now the question remains: if Superman saw the creation of a Lex Luthor 13", can a Joker be far behind
