Mezco was definitely one of the many highlights at the International Toy Fair in New York City. Not only did they reveal their highly detailed figures of NBC’s Heroes and Dark Horse’s Hellboy 2, they also debuted several new figures in their Cinema of Fear line.

New plush figures for the line will be released in October 2008. Included in this second series is an all new outfitted Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2.

A pre-trademark masked Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th Part 2.

Plus there is a dapper Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street Part 3.

Seven inch figures that are scheduled for release in April 2008 consist of a trademark Freddy Krueger with alternate hands and heads and a Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 Leatherface with film specific mask, extra skin and of course one bad ass chainsaw. There is also a new Jason with a trademark mask from Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives. Jason is complete with tombstone, machete, spear, severed head and heart.

Mezco is bringing a heroine to series 2. Nancy Thompson will be available from the original Nightmare on Elm Street.

Photographs were not permitted of their 7 inch series 3 figures. Series 3 consists of Freddy Krueger in a chef outfit from Nightmare on Elm Street Part 5, Jason from Jason Goes to Hell and Leatherface from the 2003 Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. Making his action figure debut in series 3 will be the Hitchhiker from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Next to all these other horror icons he was the only one that made me uncomfortable, in a good way.

If I could have picked one thing out of the case and taken it home with me it would have been the 12 inch Jason figure. Jason has been meticulously sculpted with more than seven points of articulation. Details for the figure come from the make up artists and actors that played Jason. This might be the finest Jason Voorhees figure to date. Look for Jason this July.
