What They Say
La Blue Girl 5: Summer's over and it's back to college for 18-year-old ninja-in-training Miko Mido. Maybe now she can forget about being the Miroku clan's chosen warrior and get back to trying to have a normal life - for a change. Sorry Miko, but being a half-demon, ninja sex-warrior means trouble all year 'round!
This time, the trouble is the new woman who's recently transferred into Miko's college, 18-year-old Fubuki Kai. Pretty and popular, she doesn't seem to be out of the ordinary. But Fubuki is a trained ninja as well, maybe even as good as Miko! And she has ambition to gain access to the Shikima realm and become its new ruler!
The problem is that she doesn't know how the Miroku clan gains entry into the underworld - the only one who knows that is Miko. So far, no one has managed to get her to give away that secret, but Fubuki has a few tricks up her... sleeve! Hang on tight as the battle to control the Shikima once again comes to the underworld!
La Blue Girl 6: Our half-demon heroine returns to the human world, leaving Fubuki and Nin-Nin behind in the wonder world for a little extra duty. But when Miko's dreams are invaded by visions of terrifying, bio-mechanical monstrosities, she finds herself caught up in the latest attempt to gain control of the underworld!
At school, her classmates are kidnapped by creatures straight out of her nightmares. And when Nin-Nin and Fubuki show up to fight them, Miko learns the awful truth: Her mother's been kidnapped and her father is dying - both victims of a plot to invade the underworld from another, even more bizarre realm.
Now it's up to Miko, Nin-Nin, and Fubuki to find out who's behind this attack and stop them before it's too late. But can Miko save her mother, her father, her friends and still save herself?
A pretty new girl comes to Miko's school. But she's also a ninja, and has plans to take over the underworld herself! First, she needs to find out how Miko gains entry to the underworld...
Then bio-mechanical monsters from Miko's nightmares have kidnapped her classmates! Now, her mother and father are in danger from an even more bizarre realm!
The audio on this disc is just as good as the past couple of releases. A clean and clear front soundstage with no rear effects, and even a pretty decent sounding English language version with voice actors and actresses who seem to get into the roles pretty well.
The video continues to look amazingly well done. Crisp clean images with vibrant colors, no artifacting or pixellation that I could see on my system. With this being the final disc in the series, there was no end-run sloppiness to take away from anything. Excellent job by the authoring folks over at Nutech.
The packaging again uses the HK style, which is a natural since the discs were packaged and created in Taiwan. The artwork for the cover continues in the slightly blurred tradition of the other two, but they do manage easily enough to convey just what you'll find on the disc inside. And yes, there are no liner notes on the reverse side, just as there weren't any on the previous two releases.
The menu as mentioned previously is of the same style, pretty functional with just a few images. No problems whatsoever on the standalone player.
So how does the final disc close out the series? Pretty well I must say. There's the introduction of a lone ninja girl with big plans and several changes occur along the way, and with the final episode, we end up in a new realm that has plans to take over the demon realm, thereby closing up the open plotline from the first disc.
While not a pinnacle in either storytelling or graphic display, the La Blue Girl series has been a solid entry in the genre, and the companies involved have given us an excellent looking package all across the board. The only quibble that many people may have is with the apparent dubtitling of the disc as opposed to subtitling, but there may be legal issues involved with this. If you're a fan of the genre, you won't be disappointed having this show in your collection. If you've not tried this before, it's a bit more of a light romp through it and may be a fairly decent introduction to the world of hentai.
