What They Say
Yeehaaa! It is good to be a fan! Cowboy Bebop, in the humble opinion of this reviewer, is a inspired creation. Now that it is available in the United States, I should give reviewing this installment a shot. There are three sessions to volume 3: Session #7 - "Heavy Metal Queen," Session #8 - "Waltz For Venus" and Session #9 - "Jamming With Edward."
In Session #7 a mix-up regarding a tattoo leads Spike, Faye and Jet in a merry chase after a atypical bounty. Space-Truckers abound in this episode and one in particular doesn't think much of bounty hunters. Don't pick a fight with the Heavy Metal Queen.
In Session #8 Spike is pestered by a young man who wants to learn to fight like him. But it seems that he has something that some thugs want. Who does this young man want to protect? An interesting and touching story, it gives a glimpse of Spike's softer side.
In Session #9 the "Bebop" will never be the same ship again! It is painful to be alone. Spike, Faye and Jet try to find out who or what is carving enormous images on the face of the now almost deserted planet Earth. There is talk about an elusive hacker called "Radical Edward." Who or what is it? An alien? A busty broad? Or a kid? The crew of the Bebop goes out to find out and collect the reward! This session marks the addition of the fifth Bebop crew member.
The 3rd volume of Cowboy Bebop gives our characters more chances to get into trouble and to charm us with their personalities. The video is crisp and gorgeous. The sound is Dolby Digital Stereo and comes across beautifully. The menu provides access to each chapter and to scenes. It is colorful and efficient. I have no complaints with this release. I enjoy Cowboy Bebop greatly and cannot recommend it enough. It is smart, sophisticated and funny. The music by Yoko Kanno is superb.
