JVC 501 Player Review
When I first went to Best Buy 3 months back to purchase a DVD player I spent a good deal of time looking at options available. I had even brought with me several anime DVD titles ( i.e. Record of the Lodoss War ) and Tenchi Muyo the movie. All of the players were fairly comparable in the price range I was looking at $300-$400. Out of the group though I liked the JVC model the best as it has an awesome on screen display screen where the movie can play in a box while you watch the bit rate and you can change the play options on the fly. The JVC model also has a zoom feature so you can zoom in on areas while playing or paused. The remote is laid out very nicely as well but even more important almost every control can be used

Currently though my player is in the shop. It has had a problem playing audio cd's where it would skip then try to go back and would mess up the audio. Also when in use for over 3 or 4 hours with different DVD's in particular dual layer DVD's it would start sending blocky data to the TV until it blanked out the TV and locked up the player forcing me to pull the plug wait a couple of minutes then plug it back in to just get the dvd disc back out.
