What They Say
Distol, the Prince of Asteria, loses everything he loves except for one, his beloved princess Qoona. However, she too is about to be lost because she was chosen as the Holy Maiden, a sacrifice for the seal that binds the demon king. Distol must invade Bastarauge and get its treasure as he does his best in corrupting Princess Elena to weaken the seal that lies within her body. He must embrace evil to save his one and only love, Princess Qoona...

The Review!
After a plot filled first volume, things taper off a bit here in that regards and we get more sex alongside revenge.

For our primary viewing session, we listened to this show in its original language of Japanese. It's the only language track included here as once again there's no dub for a new adult release. The track is a fairly standard stereo mix with a bit of directionality across the two channels that sounds decent if not terribly immersive. Dialogue is mostly center channel based but it comes across clean and clear and we had no problems with dropouts or distortions during regular playback.

Originally released in 2004, the transfer for this OVA series is presented in its original full frame aspect ratio. While not as high quality as some of the other recent shows we've seen, the animation here is good and the transfer captures its qualities well. The source material has lots of bright vivid colors and some decent animation that doesn't show too many shortcuts. The colors generally look good and solid though there are some areas where you can see some interlacing going on but it is a fairly small issue all told and most likely not noticeable on most setups. This is essentially a problem free transfer for the most part with very good looking animation.

The front cover isn't done up the same as the first and instead goes for a plain green background while providing for the three main women of this episode to be against each other and in various states of undress and molestation. The artwork is really nicely detailed here and with caution thrown to the wind it features a bit of nudity as well The back cover has a has a set of pictures from the show that lets you see exactly what the animation style is like, nudity and all, and goes on to a very lengthy series summary over two detailed paragraphs. The production and technical information round out the bottom of the cover and is pretty straightforward other than not listing any of the languages here beyond the subtitles.

The menus between this release and the first release is like night and day. JapanAnime seemed to have gotten a high quality designer for it as there's a good deal of animation and minor transitional pieces as you move about the red themed pieces with the character designs along them. The transition from the fairly standard static screens to this is definitely welcome though and they do a good job of bringing elements from the show into it. The previously combined extras/setup menu is gone and each has their own section now which is welcome. Access times are nice and fast and with no English language dub on here the player presets are somewhat moot.

The only included extra here is an image gallery done in slideshow format.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
The first installment of Slutty Princess Diaries was one that didn't impress too greatly but was surprising for the rather involved storyline in the fantasy setting about the kingdom of Bastarauge framing the kingdom of Asteria and leading it up to war only to claim its queen and princess as spoils to avert things. The plot of course turned to have the queen die and the young princess to become a Maiden to be sacrificed which left the adopted young man Distol wanting revenge and to save his beloved sister.

So much of that went on that there wasn't exactly a lot of sex to it and what there was didn't look all that great because of the style used for the animation and designs. It's not really bad but it gives the characters such a feel that you could almost pop them if you poked them with a pin. With the second episode of the Diaries, Distol's been on his rampage of violence and destruction for what seems to be many years now and he looks nothing like he did. With the help of the witching elf that gave him a great deal of power, he's set things in motion to punish Bastarauge and restore Asteria so he's finally gone home to convince his father and the rest of the kingdom to fight alongside him. Of course, they turn out to be mostly wimps but he's able to raise something of an army and starts on the journey to correct things.

Along the way, he gets to have a good deal of fun as well. Elena finds herself subjected to his whims again when he gives her a drink that burns her from the inside with desire and she can't control it. Distol checks on his younger sister as well as she continues to be stuck where they keep the Maidens and she' seemingly alright with everything but that only incenses him more. His desires for her still confuse him and he's not acted on it but the way it drives him is done in a way that he simply doesn't understand. So how to deal with it? Luckily enough, he comes across one of Elena's old friends and bodyguards, the powerful elf Yuno. This is actually one of the best scenes since they use it as a chance to play up some of the racial issues and Distol really gets to have fun about being a male human that's giving her something she's never had before. And of course, Yuno is surprised that it's actually as good as it is and practically becomes his thrall for it.

The plot does move forward and since it's actually a big part of the show that's a good thing but it doesn't overwhelm like it does before. There are some differences to the characters and Distol continues to look different enough due to the timeline involved. That said, the designs are still of a nature that makes the sex at times look almost comical. It has the moments where you wonder if the animators have actually been with a woman before because of how oddly they have their bodies performing the most normal of motions. Yuno's scenes in particular are good as she provides that Deedlit feeling but with her independently moving breasts you can't help but laugh. The same with Elena occurs in that you look at her with the way she's designed and colored and it just looks almost amateurish. Eleanor in particular really fills that spot when she takes off her outfit and there's like a sliver of a person left there.

In Summary:
While the show doesn't go from one extreme to the other as this volume still has a significant amount of plot, it does move a lot more of the sex to the forefront but still at least in service to the storyline as best as can be. This isn't a series about meaningless moments thrown together but at the same time the actual designs make it harder to get into the plot since it's just almost amateur like. The first volume rated a bit higher than it would have otherwise due to actually providing a decent and interesting storyline but this one only uses it a bit and gives us a couple of basic sex scenes that move things forward a bit but not enough that you really want to see what's coming next. If anything, you just have the fear of more of the same in terms of the sex and plot with the relatively small cast that's now appearing in it.
