Well said! Here it is, the conclusion and my review of Battle Athletes: Go!!
First off, picture and sound. Pioneer quality for both. The picture is great and while the sound is only Dolby 2.0, it's still pretty good. Too bad the same still can't be said for the dub. More on that later.
The packaging for this volume is great! Is shows the seriousness of this volume on the front and the back. The back is especially good with the picture of Akari about to cut her hair. When you see this, you know it's on! Oh, by the way, the menu is still cruddy. "Work for god sakes!"
Ah, and now to the show and the Daiundokai ( or Great Competition ). As an athlete myself, I've competed in tons of sports, and of course, there's nothing like the big game, event, whatever. Do these final two episodes give off that feeling of the "big game" or the Olympics? For the most part, yes. You finally get to see what these characters are made of. You get to see how psycho Mylandah really is, how serious and dedicated Laharri is, and you get to see that moment where you risk it all and take a chance for the glory. However, the final event is a real cop out and just kinda ruined it for me big time. The final event of the competition is the 100 meter dash with Laharri, Akari, and Kris in it for it all. While the "finish" to this race seemed bad for a certain person, when you think back at it, you realize that it was just a huge cop out. I'll leave it up to watch and figure it out, but you just end up feeling cheated of what really should have happened. Even after this, the competition itself is well done and builds up the drama nicely. All in all, it was a decent and cliché' ending to the series. But, who never really saw the ending coming a mile away anyways?
