Yu Yu Hakusho: The Movie (Mania.com)
Review Date: Saturday, November 23, 2002

I watched the show in Japanese only.Every sounded normal the reason I give it a C- is because of the music. The music used for this movie are remixes and I didn't enjoy listening to them at all.Especially the background music songs for the 2nd half of the TV series. Why were these songs remixed they sound horrible now.Otherwise it sounds just like it should.
Everything seems ok however there is something like print damage though.Every few moments a black dot keeps showing up.For some reason I dunno why but in a lot of anime movies these show up even on imported anime movie videos from Japan. It's not there on tv series or Ovas so I don't know why on movies.Other than that everything looks pretty good.
I really don't care for this cover I just don't well like it.It problay was even the cover for the Japanese release but still doesn't mean it's good cover art.It goes with the movie since those characters only appear in this movie but it could've had a better cover.
Standard stuff nothing special.
Nothing good at all. There is some slide show art there is one really good picture in there the others are blah. The CPM's trailer for movie and then a quick summary of characters nothing good at all. Then some trailers for CPM's other animes.
The Yu Yu Hakusho TV series is great the movies are not.I've never seen this movie until this release of it on dvd.The first movie of YYH which was released by Media Blasters was pretty crappy so I was hoping that at least this one would be better. It's longer so perhaps something good will happen.Unfortunately nothing good did happen. The story is very boring the fights are nothing special, the villans suck, and everything about this movie basically sucks.I didn't enjoy it at all.
Maybe it's because Pierrot never made YYH on their own except the first movie and this. There are no filler episodes at all in the TV series. There are filler parts but never a whole episode. This movie seems lost and really unfocused without the oringal author Yoshihiro Togashi his manga adapted well into a tv series.Pierrot's 2nd alone project for YYH is pretty bad attempt.
The background music is filled with remixed songs. They don't sound good at all this was the first thing of many which lead this movie downhill. With the higher production that movies have over TV series, I was hoping to see some really great fights.Maybe another great fight like Toguro vs Yusuke or Sensui vs Yusuke or the many others.Just some good fights like some of the DBZ movies.
YYH is a series which provides either story, character development or great fights.Unfortunately none of it is here in this movie. The movie spent a lot of time developing it's crappy story it wasn't good at all a lot of fighting anime movies have bad stories this one joins the pile.
If you want to know what YYH is like stay away from this movie it's an embrassment to the TV series and manga.I'm sure some people enjoyed it but I didn't.It's nothing more than a rental, if your city even has anime for rent. It's not a buy and you're money is better spent on an anime dvd which is actually good because this one isn't.
