What They Say
Creepy Sakamoto is looking for a girlfriend, and he wouldn't mind dating Ito or Makoto! Then Makoto's sister Tsubaki is brought in to Sakura High - she's says it's to be a teacher, but is it actually to be a spy for Makoto's father? It looks like Makoto and Ito have a few high hurdles to jump before they see the goal line!
Sakura-Ga-Oka High gets yet another transfer student--Yutaka Sakamoto, the weird guy Ito met on the school outing! When his efforts to convince Ito to date him put him in both Makoto and Ito bad graces, he decides he'll date both of them! Such twisted thinking is more than Makoto can take, and early one morning Ito's mysterious blonde boyfriend appears before Sakamoto to teach him a thing or two.
Then it's back to the drama club and their next performance at the Club Joint Farewell Ceremony, otherwise known as the Club Farewell Assembly Competition! All the gymnasium clubs will perform for the graduating students, and the club with the best performance will win special gymnasium privileges as a prize! With such high stakes, all the sports clubs gang up against the natural favorite for such a competition - the drama club! Sabotage, kidnapping, flying projectiles - it's no holds barred in the battle for first place!
Next we have a chapter starring the Miura family! Ito takes Makoto to the cemetery to "introduce" Makoto to her deceased mother. However, Ito's brothers, suspecting a boyfriend, tail them. We get to see the Miura sibling dynamics at work as well as a backstory on Ito's mom. Speaking of siblings, Makoto's father, undeterred in his efforts to make his son fail, brings out another weapon in his arsenal: Makoto's sister Tsubaki. With the help of the Narita family influence, she's the newest teacher at Sakura-Ga-Oka and yet another threat to Makoto and Ito's secret relationship. With so many enemies at school, you might wonder how things could possibly get worse. But they do when Sakamoto and Toki team up to take down Ito's blonde boyfriend!
Emura again presents another packed volume. There's plenty of the drama club's costumes in Chapter 3 and, except for Chapters 2 and 3, all chapters are self contained stories. Lots of cameos by family members, which I really adore, especially the Miuras' (I LOVE Itos twin brothers why can't my family be that cool?!). Not only does it expand the cast, but it shows our main characters in roles other than "student," "drama club member," and "boyfriend/ girlfriend" (it's hilarious how Ito brings out the protective streak in her brothers). Though I must say, between the Iizukas and the Naritas, there are way too many sister/ brother complexes in this manga.
