What They Say
Makoto's father is trying to force Akane into an arranged marriage, and to help Makoto, she's willing to do it! But can Makoto allow his sister to marry a man she doesn't even know so that he can get a chance to make a life as an actor? And who is that handsome man who is always there to come to her rescue? Then, Tsugumi invites Ito to the beach, and the whole gang comes along for an adventure so bizarre, it must be a dream. Or is it?
Not everyone is as confident as Ito and Makoto that the two of them will succeed in acting, and some need more convincing than others. Big brother Ryuya is particularly adamant against his baby sister pursuing such a risky career, and his fierce opposition leads to all sorts of strife (not to mention a certain amount of capital damage). However, Ito is just as stubborn as her hardheaded brother, and to convince him just how serious she is about the path she has chosen, she goes out on a limb (literally!) to win his support for her dream.
Fortunately, the Miuras achieve consensus on this matter before Ito's parent-teacher conference, and Yuto volunteers to accompany her to discuss her future goals with her teachers. On the way to the conference, Yuto rescues a pretty young lady from a nasty accident, and then... could this be love at first sight?! Unfortunately, their mutual attraction might prove to be moot. This young woman is being pressured to accept an arranged marriage with someone she doesn't love in order to guarantee the succession of her family's dojo. Oh, and by the way, she also happens to be Akane, Makoto's big sister! You can bet that once Makoto and Ito get wind of this arranged marriage that they'll stop at nothing to thwart Makoto's father's efforts!
Then it's time to say goodbye to one of our drama club members -- Kohei is moving! But before he leaves, he wants to do something special for the drama club that he has become so precious to him -- and in the process, buries the hatchet with Ito.
This volume concludes with another crazy homestay at Tsugumi-sempai's and yet another encounter with a vengeful spirit!
More family dynamics in this volume. Even I will admit that how Akane and Yuto came together was a bit contrived. However, the two of them are such likable characters and look so cute together that I decided that I didn't care how Emura got them together. I wish I could say the same for the "Vengeful Mermaid" story, but the drama club's constant run-ins with the supernatural are starting to get old.
