What They Say
Family ties deepen when Makoto's sister Akane invites Jto's brother Yuto to a fireworks display - could another romance be about to explode? And now with just seven months left until graduation, Makoto's acting ambition is threatened again.
His father, becoming increasingly desperate to ensure that his son returns home to inherit the family dojo, enlists the aid of Makoto's arranged fiancee Takayo and her devious brother. Will they succeed in thwarting Makoto's dream?
Ito's brother and Makoto's sister are definitely interested in one another. However, they're a little shy about approaching each other so Ito and Makoto arrange for all four of them to go on an outing to a fireworks festival. Everything starts off well, but the festival triggers sad memories for Yuto that cause him to pull away from Akane. Will Akane be able to help him overcome his long-standing fear of intimacy?
Next the Iizuka siblings are back with a plan to stir up trouble: a new challenge for Makoto! This time the battlefield is the drama club's performance at the upcoming cultural festival, and the stakes are Makoto's future career and a chance to break his engagement with Takayo. Ito senses a trap, but Makoto agrees to the terms anyway, causing the two to quarrel. However, they make up shortly afterwards in one of Ito's more embarrassing moments.
Next Ito gets an unexpected opportunity to perform on the professional stage in an action show! Unfortunately, she's so nervous that her performance suffers. But when a few hecklers try to ruin the show, it provides the perfect opportunity for her talent to shine through.
Then chaos reigns when Ito's dad chances to catch sight of Ito with her boyfriend! Makoto gets away without Mr. Miura getting a good look at him, but dad isn't about to let anyone get away with dallying with his precious princess behind his back. Ito is grounded! How will Makoto be able to convince Mr. Miura of his serious intentions towards Ito without giving himself away?
This volume concludes with the farcical version of Swan Lake performed last spring by the drama club.
More drama and chaos from the Miura clan. While it is a bit contrived how Yuto gets another opportunity to "save" Akane, his hesitation to start a relationship with her is written very plausibly, and the situation allows both of these secondary characters to let their true colors shine through. As for Mr. Miura, it is about time he caught on to the fact that his daughter is dating someone. His ultra violent reaction is over-the-top, but his feelings are quite understandable. Makoto is fortunate that Mr. Miura went through something similar with Ito's mom; otherwise Ito would have been grounded till graduation. The Swan Lake comedy is fun, but it does feel like an omake. Speaking of omake, extras consist of a mini report of Emura's first autograph session and cultural notes.
