What They Say
Kyoko's big chance is finally here! Her performance in Sho's promo clip impressed some important people, and now she's been asked to act in the year's most anticipated drama! But Ren is the leading man and the character Kyoko is supposed to play is damaged and scary! Can Kyoko overcome her fear of Ren and her shame about her demons, or will this chance of a lifetime slip through her fingers?

The Review
Somehow, Kyoko has managed to cross (young) veteran actor Hio, who has vowed to end her career - along with Moko, who injured him on the set under circumstances that still aren't clear to Kyoko. When Moko (showing some unexpected vulnerability of her own) comes across the two of them together, she ends up revealing why she treated Hio the way she did as the three visit her family home together. Her family is definitely an interesting one.

While there, Kyoko gets her chance to do things with her best friend that she's never been able to do before, like spend the night, revealing more of the bipolar nature of her personality - one minute completely girlish and charming, the next minute a demon of revenge. Moko also reveals more about herself than she was probably intending to, and learns a few things in the process. Things can't stay peaceful for long, though, as Kyoko's refusal to share her secrets prompts a fight with Moko.

Ren is having troubles of his own, after being summoned to talk to the President. He's not happy about the weakness in Sho's acting - love and romance. Since Ren's newest role is the lead in a romantic drama, this has the potential to be a real problem. Can Ren truly act out a man in love if he's never been in love himself, and doesn't understand what love truly is? And can Kyoko manage to surpass Sho on her own talents?

In this volume, the story seems to be taking a big step forward, moving things along at a faster pace than they have been. Kyoko and Moko are over-the-top in everything they do, but they feel more real as characters in a way because of than than the Pollyannas who inhabit the pages of so many other shoujo titles. Sweetness and light are definitely not in the offing here, but drama, humor, and twisted, twisted revenge abound.
