A decent book for those wishing for an English translated ero-manga anthology.  Only this isn’t an anthology, just a collection of short stories from an artist with her style all over the map and hence my biggest complaint with this title.

The Review
The front and back cover depicts attractive artwork of busty women in various states of undress.  This is another nice production from Icarus, except for the two stories originally printed in color.  The pages are dark because of the black and white reproduction, and unfortunately, there are about 24 pages.  There are not any real extras in this volume aside the usual Icarus glossary explaining honorifics and an extensive Japanese language ‘Pronunciation Guide’.  I wish there was some kind of letter from the author because she is a woman creating straight ero-manga and that is somewhat rare, so I’m curious to learn more about her.

Shimao’s art is interesting in certain aspects that differentiate her a little from many ero-manga titles created by men.  There seems to be some emphasis placed on the hands of the female characters, they often seem to be up front in the panel.  Another thing I noticed is the seemingly small number of panels depicting the insertion portion of sex scenes.  Then again, I could just be reading too much into it.  What I do like about Shimao’s art is the attention paid to breast shape, constantly being molded and shifted to match the woman’s pose.  There is no implants or stiff boobies often seen in ero-manga.  What I don’t like is the inconsistency in the art style from story to story.  It is obvious which stories are newer as that art seems more detailed, such as the hair and eyes.  The older chapters appear simpler with stiffer characters, and the actual story is less interesting.

The last few releases from Icarus have had near stellar translations under a new translator.  Unfortunately, this volume reverts to the old translator who has done the vast majority of translation work for Icarus.  This book is packed with rough sentences, missing words, and other grammatical errors.  I would hope to see the newer translator return and really take over all the translating for Icarus.

Contents: (Oh yes, there may be spoilers)
This book starts with a bang as a teacher wonders if he can please his sex slave Chisato.  She loves her sensei and just cannot get enough of his, ahem, love.  While the other students are gathered in the quad for the graduation ceremony, Chisato focuses on her extra-curricular activities.

I am a little surprised to find a sibling sex story written by a female mangaka.  ‘Marshmallow Honeymoon’ is about Sayaka and her older brother.  Sayaka chose to lose her virginity to her brother, and ever since then, he has lived with his remorse for his weakness.  Well, Sayaka is far from finished with him.  Will he be able to deny his urges the next time she wags her ass in his face?

A particular dream shared by many men out there is realized in ‘Pet Diaries’.  Junya is a typical bachelor living on his own and just scraping by.  His life is about to change after agreeing to watch his friend’s pet while he goes on a business trip.  When the pet shows up, she turns out to be a super hot girl that comes in and cooks a great dinner.  After dinner, she wants dessert and a bowl of soft serve just isn’t going to cut it.  The pet is actually quite the nympo as she insists Junya do to her whatever he pleases.  Life gets even better for Junya when his friend calls and says he has another surprise headed to his house.  Could Junya’s dream life really get any better?

The shear number of stories in this book is impressive, fourteen to be exact.  Personally, I prefer ero-manga titles focused on one or two stories so I can learn more about the characters and feel some investment in the story.  Then again, this is just porn so maybe I’m asking too much.

The themes of the stories vary widely, so there is something likeable for just about every reader.  Lesbian lovers and a dude, a student and his hot teacher, a guy and his sex-starved friend, and the club president forced to pay back embezzled funds with her body are a few of my favorites.  There are also some incredibly bad stories such as the old guy doing weird things to farm animals with human bodies.  A horse guy, duck dude, and wolf man all walk into a bar with a catgirl . . .  Unfortunately, that is not a joke but a story in this book and it ends with an orgy.

Overall, the sex is all right, most of the art is all right, and some of the stories are decent.  In the end, if you only buy an Icarus title every once in while I recommend reading our reviews and picking another Icarus book with hotter sex and better art.
