A classic returns once again on February 5th, 2008, when the animated feature 'Turok: Son of Stone' debuts on DVD. And while he may not be as recognized as Superman or Captain America, 'Turok' is one of the most enduring American heroes.

Created in 1954, Turok originally saw publications by Dell and Gold Key comics. The comic told the story of two pre-Columbian Native Americans who become trapped in a valley of dinosaurs.

That series left an indelible mark on the comics culture, a mark that would be strengthened when Turok was updated, along with many of his Gold Key expatriates, as part of the Valiant Universe in the early 1990s, where the concept was given a sci fi twist.

When Valiant was absorbed by Acclaim, Turok broke out from the pack, thanks to a series of popular video games.

Now Turok is back in an all new feature film. This new movie promises to return to the original source material and, according to publicity materials, "create a dark, intense, epic reimagining of Turok’s origin story."

The film is directed by by Frank Squillace (X-Men: The Animated Series), Curt Geda (Marvel’s Ultimate Avengers), Dan Riba (Batman Beyond).

'Hellboy Animated' mastermind Tad Stones acts as supervising director. Evan Baily (Invader Zim) produced the film. Tony Bedard, whose credits include comic book series “Negation” and “Route 666,” wrote the screenplay from a story co-written with Baily. Michael Uslan (Batman Begins) and Deborah Dugan are Executive Producers.
