Cool trash for hot days

A recent industry study reports that viewers who see a movie in a theater are somewhat likely to buy the same film on DVD when it's released. Well, duh. A lot of the people that go see movies like movies, so it should be no surprise that if they like a movie they might buy the DVD. However, the same study indicates that if given a choice, consumers would rather buy the DVD than see a movie in the theater. Duh, again. Would you rather spend $8-12 (or whatever) to see a movie once, or spend around $20 to have complete control of the movie and see it anytime you like? The good news is that the industry is taking this as a warning not to try releasing movies in theaters on DVD and in theaters at the same time, or else income from both sources is likely to suffer. I like both viewing experiences, so I wouldn't like for either one to disappear, but I'd advise the studios to concentrate more on eliminating problems with both experiences, which will increase profits, and less on cutting corners for a quick buck.
Here's a good deal on DVDs: FREE! We've got five copies of VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA Season 1 Volume 2 in our Prize Closet to give away, courtesy of Fox. To enter, send one email for each title containing your name and address to psycho@psychotronic.info, and be sure to put "BOTTOM" in the subject line.
We also have two copies of the DANGER AFTER DARK Box Set, courtesy of TLA. This set contains the J-horror hits MOON CHILD, 2LDK and the incredible SUICIDE CLUB, and to win this one make sure to put "DAD" as the subject.
This week, the July lull continues, as the major studios hope you'll be out at the movies or busy with other activities and not renting or buying DVDs. However, there's still some good stuff coming out. Don't miss this one:

If I could see movies in theaters without other people there (or at least with other people who pass a universal jerk-off test), I'd love the theater experience a lot more than I do.
Of course, it helps to avoid opening nights and weekends, especially weekends because that's when the looney bins let the loons out to go to the theater.)
