Cooper becomes the JARHEADs commander

Chris Cooper (SEABISCUIT, ADAPTATION) is the latest recruit for Sam Mendes' JARHEAD. Cooper worked before with Mendes on the director's Oscar-nominated AMERICAN BEAUTY. In JARHEAD the actor will play Lt. Colonel Kazinski, the leader of an elite sniper squad on deployment in the Gulf during the first Gulf War. Jake Gyllenhaal, Jamie Fox and Peter Sarsgaard have already been cast as members of the team.

Filming is slated to commence this month.
