Former DC Comics Editor Tony Bedard has been hired by CrossGen Comics and will immediately take up the writing reins on the upcoming title, NEGATION. Bedard will also write CrossGen's MYSTIC while current MYSTIC scribe Ron Marz moves on to THE PATH, another new series.

Starting as an intern at Valiant Comics in 1992, Bedard eventually became Executive Editor while writing such titles as MAGNUS ROBOT FIGHTER, PSI-LORDS, and TUROK. Later Bedard moved to Crusade, writing SHI and TOMOE before assuming editorial control of the JLA and Vertigo lines at DC Comics. Now Bedard joins the successful CrossGen team and will help to shape and maintain the continuity of their growing stable of titles.

"Working at CrossGen is an exciting challenge that I'm really looking forward to," says Bedard. "The opportunity to write full-time as well as utilize the editorial skills I've developed over the years to help chart the course for this company's future is a dream come true. There is something very special happening in Tampa and I'm ecstatic that I can be a part of it."

Since their launch in May of 2000, CrossGen has distinguished itself as an energetic publisher devoted to building a solid roster of talent and product, priding itself on sterling sales performance and reliable shipping. CrossGen Head Writer Barbara Kesel sees Bedard's arrival as yet another step in the right direction.

"Tony adds another great element to our writing team," says Kesel. "He's an excellent storyteller whose skills as a writer have been underutilized up until this point. Plus, his editorial skills add another dimension that, as we grow, is becoming more and more crucial. That combination of resources made him our first choice to fill this position. Now that our staff writer needs are set for the next year, we'll be resuming the development of our Associate Writer program."
