They have already said this film will be seperate from the others. Stop living in the past people. Time for something new.

@TheMovieGuy, you better be careful about punching the Man of Steel. Whether at his current power level or his original from Action Comics #1 you're going to end up with a broken hand!

This is great idea for casting. And it is obviously a remake. There shouldn't be any confusion on that front. They are re-telling the origin in a different way. I know many don't want it done on screen for the umpteenth time but I would guess they are doing this so everybody will know this isn't the Donner Superman movies anymore in any way shape or form.

So if it's not a remake or reboot then it implies that it lives withing the previous film's continuity doesn't it?

I think your holding the execs to their words and not their interpretation of their words.  Not a remake in their eyes means 'were not telling any of the stories we have already told again, verbatim', and not a 'reboot' likely means 'were not going to throw out everything that has ever been done,  and start from 'origin',  were going to jump in somewhere in the middle, keep what suits us,  pretend some things never happened,  catch a few people that live in caves up as to what the scenario is,  and then tell our discombobulated story somewhere in the middle.

I´ve always seen Crowe as Luthor and Nicholas Cage as Jor El, but the cast is shapining very cool.

cinemaman72 6/16/2011 7:54:39 AM

First off you can have Jor El in the film without it being an origin story. My money is some sort of scene between Shannon and Crowe that ends with Jor El (Crowe) banishing Zod to the Phantom Zone. And probably some scene in the Fortress of Solitude where Jor El counsels Supers before his final confrontation with Zod.

On another subject, I hate to be a hater, but didn't Crowe famously say he'd never do a Superhero movie?

Hopefully Nolan can get this shit on track.

violator14 6/16/2011 8:37:30 AM

Crowe definitley has the voice for it.

I'm still not worried at all about this production, I love the team that's making it and Russel Crowe is awesome, everyone they've cast so far is awesome.  Get on with production already!  Fly this bitch into theatres faster than a speeding bullet!!!!

TheMovieGuy28 6/16/2011 9:56:07 AM

@ Monkey, Nice. Maybe I shouldn't be the one to facefist Supes. Let Green Lantern Stiglitz him. See him block that fist

@ Wise, ha, forgot about him beating a desk clerk with a phone. You know, it would probably hurt the first few shots, but an entire phone is like really hard to hit with, it makes you hold it so awkwardly.

Randomness-I don't know this, but does Superman ever eat? And if not, does this mean he never takes a leak or a dump? And even moreso, does this mean he doesn't have a digestive system?

TheMovieGuy28 6/16/2011 9:57:18 AM

Oh, and like the promise of every new Tomb Raider game being great and fixing the flaws and coming up with something original, I'll believe this is a new standalone great Superman story when it happens. As for now.......pfffffft
