Come on Bryzarro!  They licked cancer millenia ago on Krypton.

Lots seem to be hung up on the Crystal Cathedral version of Krypton. As comic fans we all know that was invented for the Donner films. This is obviously a new start giving it a new look. That look was chosen for those movies to give a more outworldly and almost Heaven-like appearance to Krytpton since the Donner Superman (and Bryan Singer's) had a strong Jesus/Messiah sent from God allegory.

As for dirtiness and scruffiness: once again I have to point out that you are not seeing this costume on the proper set and lite correctly. Also filming for Crowe may not have started yet and this could just be costume fitting. His hair may be cut and trimmed later.

On a side note, the all encompassing banner ads for American Horror Story make looking at the Mania site today very difficult for the workplace. I've had a co-worker walk by with a double take. "Are you looking at pr0n!?!"

Just look at the world's most brilliant scientists, most of them are a bit scruffy...

And the white costumes are just waaaay too clichéd!

Yeah I like it, glad they're moving away from the previous films. I always hated the way Krypton was depicted in film.

I think Darkknight is right about Jor-El's undersuit, it may be just like Supes' new suit which would help explain his suit in the film.

I'm with monkeyfoot.  The suit and Crowe may look dodgy in these pics because you're not seeing them in the context of the final film product.  Lighting, sets, camera angles, the actor actually acting...all those are missing from these pics so take them with a grain of salt.  It's just Crowe in his Jor-El duds having a smoke break.  Remember when set pics of Heath Ledger's Joker costume first popped up?  Or when Captain America first showed up on set?  A lot of fans complained to no end about the designs.  And those folks may still be complaining, but whatever.  It didn't seem to hurt either film's Box Office take or overall acceptance by the general viewing public.

Personally, I like the new designs.  It makes Kryptonians look a little more alien and, frankly, makes them look tougher.  Yeah, they're still scientifically advanced, but with a psycho like Zod for an enemy, it's cool to see that either Jor-El or Superman look like they could take him in a straight-up fight.

Oh, and Bryzarro, remember the lesson of George Lucas: if it's in outer space, it's not a cig.  It's a "death stick."  SUBTLETY!   ;)

Russell Crowe is lookin' a little rough...

Great! I never liked the Donner vision of Krypton, I hated that SUperman Returns was an alternative sequel for a movie relased 20 years before, I looking foward for this one.

I think the costume looks ok, and I like that it appears Superman's uniform/costume will be more Kryptonian in design. As much as I love Donner's Superman I'm glad that Snyder's setting his own course.
