Actor Russell Crowe has joined aboard BODY OF LIES. Hey, it's a Ridley Scott film so of course actor Russell Crowe will be cast. The film is an adaptation of the David Ignatius novel in which Ridley Scott is directing & Leonardo DiCaprio is starring.

Crowe will play Ed Hoffman, the manipulative CIA boss who teams with operative Roger Ferris (DiCaprio) to trap a dangerous Al-Qaeda leader by planting a false rumor that the bomber is in cahoots with the Americans.

Filming will begin right around the time that Crowe's latest movie, AMERICAN GANGSTER, hits theaters. Another film of his which is directed by Ridley Scott. That one hits theaters on November 2nd.

Once BODY OF LIES finishes filming, Crowe will be moving onward to a re-imagining of Robin Hood titled NOTTINGHAM. Who directs that movie? You guessed it, Maniacs. Ridley Scott is also in charge of that one. Ever since GLADIATOR, these two can't be seperated.

AHHHH Yes.....Nothing like a little Hollywood artistic nepotism mixed with a bit of Bromance.....Not that there's anything wrong with it.....

Wow...so is this partnership a new Scorsese/De Niro-type relationship? I don't mind a director bringing in a regular actor to star in most of his films, and Ridley Scott can do little wrong in my opinion (save that really awful-looking Russell Crowe film from last year), so I'm on board.

I like the partnership, but i hope they don't get too comfortable that they get lazy and walk through films. That would be a big disappointment.

Nothing wrong with a healthy man-crush. The film synopses sound good, and I'm looking forward to them all...

Hey, I just watched Gladiator last night. What a coincedence with the picture.
What a gay title for this thread.
Not sure I'm ready for Al-Qaeda movies, but I do love CIA movies.

Since they're remaking everything in sight, why not remake Legend with Ridley Scott remaking his own movie? Re-Cast Tom Cruise and Mia Sara with Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, bring back Tim Curry, box office gold I tell ya....Of course I could be biased...Lost my virginity to that movie...LOL

"Manipulative CIA boss" sounds promising, I miss the charismatic amoral bad boy from Virtuosity. He can be like Cromwells character from LA Confidencial or Denzel from Training Day, maybe a little Pacino from The Recruite.

Lately, I have been enjoying Tony Scotts movies more than Ridleys. Then again, I am a huge action fan. Deja Vu, Domino and Man On Fire are all great movies in the last few years from Tony. Ridley has been hit or miss. As long as there is a scene in this movie with Leo and Russel Spooning, the headline on this is no lie. MMMMM.....Spooing

I believe DiCaprio and Crowe worked together years ago before both were famous. Was it The Quick and the Dead with Sharon Stone and Gene Hackman? That was quite a few years ago and it was directed by Sam Raimi. I can't remember if they were both in it or not.

You are right Jppinatar, but i dont think they were on screen together. Crowe payed Sharon Stones father who was hung when she was a ittle girl. At least thats what i remember, but I was tripping balls when I saw it back in 95.
