He can't be a villain... too wimpy.

If he can`t be a villian, then he can`t really be an agent either. I bet that he is cast as a villian. Villians don`t have to be physically dominant, to be great villians. Look at Cillian, as Scarecrow. He was a great villian and weighs like 140, wet. I think they should cast a villian like that. I mean, Cruise can have plenty of other guys to beat up at the end. And who`s to say Crudup won`t bulk up like Bale did for Batman?

All i know is Crudup was b.a. in Almost Famous. i hope he's the villian. but then again, dougray scott wasnt very intimidating either.

Oh Gawd....not ANOTHER one of these BAD remakes of the excellent TV series. It's all a show off of Tommy "I'm a Mad Man" Cruise! Count me out!

I believe th Mission Impossible movies to be the BEST of the tv remakes. I can't think of any other tv series that's made a better movie, or more money. And the way they do it, picking a unique director for each film with his own style, keeps it fresh. MI2 was hammy, but still rocked. It was the spy film closest to being considered pop art. I mean, that musical score and the cinematography was amazing.

Oh, and even though Cruise is off his rocker, it doesn't mean his characters are.

Yeah, Cruise can act- even as crazy as he is. War of the Worlds had its flaws (the aliens looked patheticly bad, some poor pacing, etc.), but Cruise and the special effects made the movie worth watching.

The Mission Impossible movies are great. I am really looking forward to the third one. The first one right away distanced itself from the TV show, so it now has a life of it's own.

They have Thomas Hayden Church as the baddie in Spiderman 3. I see him (Church) more as a funny guy than a baddie so maybe Crudup will surprize us all, if in fact he is a baddie.

I agree with the bigbadbuffyfan MI is one of the better TV to film movies around. and despite cruise's dementa he can act.

I like Billy. I'm sure he can play a villain, just surprised he's taking this role. Seems like most of his choices so far have had a little more artistic merit. Must have been a good payday, or Cruise turned on the charm to talk him into it, or both.
