Cruise Signs for MI5

To star and produce

By Robert T. Trate     May 07, 2013

Deadline broke the exclusive news that Tom Cruise will star and produce Mission Impossible 5. The confirmation comes from both Paramount and Skydance Productions that Cruise will return to the role of Ethan Hunt. A role he relaunched for the big screen back in 1996!

Dealine’s Mike Flemming Jr. is reporting that Jack Reacher’s director Christopher McQuarrie is in line to direct the film. J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot will still be over seeing the film. After all Abrams help reignite the franchise with the third installment in 2006.

What is interesting here is that Cruise is now hitting Sean Connery/ James Bond status with his portrayal of Ethan Hunt. What say you Maniacs? Are you ready for another go around with Tom Cruise and the Mission Impossible franchise?

That is great news, the last 2 have been excellent and loads of fun, hope they can bring some of the past characters too.

Definitely great news, but I was really hoping that Brad Bird would direct again since MI4 was so good.

There hasn't been a single one of the MI movies that I haven't liked. I was even OK with Jim Phelps being the arsehole in the first one. So bring on a 5th. Let's see more Paula Patton!! And Simon Pegg! Ving Rhames too!

Love these movies except for MI2 directed by John Woo. But especially the last two have been fantastic. When this series first started though I liked the first but was kind of pissed that it wasn't an ensemble cast effort like the old TV series. It was all Cruise doing everything. Now I don't mind. Can't wait for another.

Part 2 was definitely the weakest one but I too have loved or liked all of them.

Keep them coming I need something a little lighter with great action to counter the new gritty melancholy James Bond

Bring it!!  Agree MI 2 was the waekest of the films but had some awesome action as only Woo does.  But the last 2 have been amazing.  Cruise loves topping himself with the stunts in them too.  Some of the best stuff in there.

MI 5! can't wait sounds like another blockbuster hit for Tom Cruise

Oh... Didn't see that coming. Ha! I'll go see it. The last installments have been so much better than that steaming pile of Number Woo.

I liked the last two also, and the first one quite a bit.  As long as the keep the team aspect, I think this will be fun.
