Lucas Denies Shia Taking over INDY - Aug 10, 2008 - 01:16pm
I don't say much in these comment sections, but you guys are hilarious. All of you. If I'm having a bad day, all I have to do is sit back and read all of the comments and I laugh my ass off. Everyone of you needs to sit down together and write a script. There would be a lot of yelling and Lucas and Uwe Bolle bashing and nothing would get finalized for years, but I bet the final product would be GOLD.
Something Viral Planned for DARK KNIGHT - Jul 07, 2008 - 09:00pm
i've already seen what they have planned on this new viral campaign. in fact i saw it on tv tonight...
it was a Dominos Pizza commercial tied in with the Dark Knight. the commercial and their pizza make me feel sick, so i guess the "viral" effect worked.

LOST: No Place Like Home Part 2 - May 31, 2008 - 04:30pm
I agree, I thought this was an excellent episode. Very action packed. I have nothing to add really, but I was thinking how cool it would be if one day the creators or someone else would put all the flashbacks, Island experience and flash-forwards in a chronological order so we would be able to watch the show in that way. I guess there's no way to do it until the show is finally over in 2010, but I think it would be cool. Even if it was just a map or directions on how to watch the chapters in the DVD releases in a certain order to achieve the chronological perspective. Anyone else like to see this?
Box Office: Paramount Finds Memorial Day Treasure with INDY - May 25, 2008 - 03:33pm
No need to attack mlaforcer. I think he was just trying to say that it would be the most ultimate example of irony history ever wtinessed if that happened. Irony is a literary device. It's also used in movies. An example would be when Indy was not amused of Mutt's motorcycle stunts just as once Indy's own father was not amused at his motorcycle stunt work in "Last Crusade." In conclusion, since it was a satirical comment involving irony, which is used in movies, and incidentally used in the movie in which this post is the ultimate subject of, the comment was relevant. The matter is thus put to rest. Anyone lacking a sense of humor and finding it offensive should cease and desist breathing.
P.S. I just drew a cartoon character of mohammed.
Sam Niell, Sean Bean and Ackland Find NBC's Crusoe - May 25, 2008 - 10:03am
Captm0rgan,
echoing your thoughts, I posted this under the "NBC Unleashes Fall Premiere Dates" post before reading yours:
"Crusoe huh? It's got a seemingly deserted island you say? With flashbacks telling of the character's life prior to being stranded on the island? There are "other" people on the island? An actor from the Lord of The Rings is in the cast? Golly...I can't quite put my finger on it but this sounds very familiar...
(yeah yeah, I know...the story of Robinson Crusoe is older than the show I'm alluding to above.)"
But if they're doing it right like MightyJim thinks the story is going to be laid out in the flashbacks, it'll probably be good. Hopefully it's not set in the present day.

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL - May 25, 2008 - 08:30am
Jarrod,
Can't agree with you more in your post. I loved the library scene. And I honestly thought I was the only one who caught that switching of the roles with Shia looking to Indy and smiling, with Indy doing the same thing his father did to him in Crusade during that motor cycle chase scene. I thought that was great.
Look fanboys, this movie was awesome. I loved it. I want more! Minus the monkey's and vine swinging of course. But all in all, I was definitely entertained.
Some of you have mentioned the poor special effects and/or implausibilities in this movie. Well I'm sure I don't have to remind you all of the glass separating the cobra and Indy in Raiders being completely visible, even in the DVDs that were subsequently released. Or how about the impossible jumping out of plane in an inflatable raft, landing safely on to a peak in the jagged Himalayas only to fly off a cliff falling hundreds of feet into a raging river. Talk about implausible. Oh not to mention that the "Ark of the Covenant" and the "Holy Grail" never existed ever either. Talk about suspension of belief. But thats a whole different topic of conversation and my intention is not offend anyone here.
Get over yourselves fanboys and learn to enjoy yourselves. Life is too short to care about this crap this much that you cry over it and curse the people behind the film when it doesn't go your way.
I say bring on #5, hell even #6 and #7. Lets make a whole new Indiana Jones Chronicles TV series too. :)

First Trailer for STREET KINGS - Feb 12, 2008 - 04:47pm
I don't get why this would not be newsworthy just because it does not have a sci-fi or fantasy angle. I've been following this site since it was Coming Attractions by Corona before it was absorbed by Cinescape.com and before then finally absorbed by Mania.com. Coming Attractions did not discriminate or give preferential treatment to just sci-fi/fantasy films and thats the way I preferred it. Stop being nerds and expand your horizons. Get out of your mom's basements and get some sun. I'm not trolling and I know you were just curious but I just don't want the Mania editors to read the comment of it not being newsworthy because it has nothing to do with sci-fi/fantasy and then think that the ONLY movies we all want to hear about are those types and thus tailor the site to only those types of movies.

TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES: Heavy Metal - Feb 06, 2008 - 07:01am
i agree isgrimner. This episode came out monday, and yet Lost's new season began almost a whole week ago and still no review. Lost is a way better show that deserves at least priority over this show. Big fan of the Terminator series, and I dig this show (there's nothing else to watch), but Lost takes priority over this show in my book.
New Photo for INDY IV Appears Online - Feb 01, 2008 - 07:43pm
Personally, I like the idea of him finding the Ark all over again. After all that work in trying to find it in the first place, who's to say he doesn't deserve it. It belongs in a mueseum...er...I mean in his house as a his coffee table.
Paramount Confirms CLOVERFIELD 2 - Jan 31, 2008 - 08:42am
you all are fanboys. jk. but seriously, everyone is split on this movie still. There are those that didn't like it and those that absolutely loved it. But I can't help but notice that those that want this sequel are also split almost right down the middle. Half of you want another shaky cam flick, while the other half prefers a conventional film.
for me in the original, I wanted the best of both worlds. I wanted a shaky cam film within a conventional film. a conventional beginning and a conventional end, with the middle being what the actual movie turned out to be. I could be wrong, but I think that the half that want this sequel to abandon the shaky cam concept, also had hoped for some sort of mix in the original and were somewhat discouraged that it was all shaky cam. Am I way off?
CLOVERFIELD Monster Attacks January Records - Jan 22, 2008 - 06:39am
just incase anyone is still reading these comments and cares. Here's a link to gizmodo.com's post about the camera used in filming this "monstrosity." Like the play on words? Get it. Just kidding, I'm not trolling I swear...sigh here's the link http://gizmodo.com/347463/the-real-camera-behind-cloverfield
CLOVERFIELD - Jan 19, 2008 - 12:02pm
This is just my own opinion, but I cannot agree with this review. This movie was SO hyped, and for me, it lacked in delivery. Just like Lost, it left me wanting more, not because I enjoyed myself so much that I need more, but rather because I didn't get the answers or the closure I expected. Although I did go into the movie with low expectations and expected a "Blairwitch" experience, I still was let down. It was entertaining, but it wasn't worth dealing with the crowds at a theater on opening night. Nor was it worth 30 bucks for 2 tickets and concessions. (My reason for going on opening night was so that the revealing of what the monster actually was wouldn't be spoiled by me reading reviews or hearing other people talk about it.) I went with my girlfriend, and a few other friends, all who consider themselves "movie buffs" in the sense that we all appreciate good cinematography, innovative techniques, good acting and such. We all had been waiting for this movie ever since we saw the teaser back in the summer and we all felt a little duped. (Possible Spoiler ahead) However, I think that this movie as a whole would have been better as an extra feature to a special edition DVD version of a movie dealing with the actual beginnings of the monster and the solution to the problem; a movie shot in the traditional method. I do appreciate what they tried to do, but give me a freaking ending with some sort of explanation. Just because I liked or appreciated the series finale of The Sopranos, does not mean I want that same experience in a movie with this much hype. I am a fan of J.J. Abrams. I really am. And I know he was only the producer here, but I was disappointed in the delivery of this movie. I know that I can't be the only one out there with this sentiment.
Jackson Explains 'Not' Directing THE HOBBIT - Dec 19, 2007 - 06:38pm
I agree with Filch. I would wait for PJ. Buuuuut, if the choice is between Raimi and Del Toro, Del Toro should do it. I mean, just sit and watch Pan's Labyrinth and tell me that isn't a masterpiece--great direction, cinematography and story. Also, I don't think any other person other than Howard Shore should be allowed to score these 2 films. What he did with the LOTR's score was pure genius. (but then again...these are just my opinions.)
WGA Denies Waivers for Globes & Oscars - Dec 18, 2007 - 07:15am
just my opinion, but i think we as the ultimate consumers/audience have a big part to play in whether the strike ends sooner rather than later. If we just stop watching the reruns they play, the cheap-to-produce reality TV shows and crappy new game shows they make up to fill in the gaps ratings will plummet. Hence advertisers will have more bargaining power in how much they pay for advertising space. Eventually the studios/networks will have to drop prices on their advertising space causing them to lose revenue. With no new shows/entertainment that the masses will want to watch, eventually the studios/networks will have to cave in if they want the advertisers to come back. Stop watching the mindless crap they put on, like dancing with the stars, american idol, don't forget the lyrics, the stupid nanny shows. We just need to go outside, go running or go to dinner with our loved ones, start listening to music. And forget these effing retarded tv shows.
Godley & Rennie Join THE X-FILES 2 - Dec 13, 2007 - 05:07pm
fft5305 - Unless you are speaking of some sort of flashback scene or a set of cloned Lone Gunmen (since it's the x-files, chances are this idea isn't impossible, but it is most likely improbable), odds are that we won't be seeing a cameo by them since they were killed off in the episode "Jump the Shark" of season 9.
JOHN FROM CINCINNATI: His Visit: Day Nine - Aug 14, 2007 - 10:25am
I feel like I got duped by this show. Kind of like the creators/writers tried to see if they could get an audience to watch something that was not going anywhere as their own personal inside joke. Something similar to the concept of The Producers. I enjoyed the show this summer. It was different. The acting was top notch. But I needed more than just a parade and the return of John and Shawnie as a reward for watching. Honestly though, what the hell?!?
Harold Perrineau Returns to LOST - Jul 26, 2007 - 10:08pm
I am in agreement with vichussmith and almostunbiased. If you know the show, you knew this news was inevitable.
Jarrod - to prevent the character portion of the spoiler, you could have used the "A Character returns to Lost" and just put the "Lost" title card as the picture. Bland and more boring, but it keeps the spoiler...um...from being spoiled...to a certain extent anyways. If the reader wants to read further, they read further and then you can post a link to a pic of Perrineau. Just a thought. But again if you know the show, this is almost non-spoiler news anyways.
10,000 B.C Trailer - Jul 11, 2007 - 09:20pm

Two Major DARK KNIGHT Rumors - Jul 09, 2007 - 09:05am
I hear ya wessmith. I love Batman Begins. Christopher Nolan did a hell of a job. He did a great job with The Prestige also. But every time I hear a new rumor about this movie, I get a little nervous that this rebooted franchise is going to head down the Joel Schumacher road. Too many villains make me nervous. It may have worked for the old Batman franchise style in the '66 movie, but it sure as hell made Batman Forever and Batman and Robin suck donkeys. Just thinking of Awnold tripping over his line "Everybody freeze" just makes me shudder. If they are just setting up the characters for a future sequel, then cool. But hearing that Eckhart is in his Two-Face alter ego makeup already and that Hall is Nygma, has me think that is not the case. The difference is Schumacher was a hack and Nolan is great and casts great actors, so the chances of it working out better this time around are higher. Just my opinion anyways.
JOHN FROM CINCINNATI: His Visit: Day Three - Jul 03, 2007 - 11:51am
I agree that the actors who play Shawny and Kai, could probably use some acting lesson's. But who cares, this show has me coming back each Sunday. Ed O'Neill deserves an Emmy for his role as Bill.
DIE HARD 5 Coming Soon? - Jun 28, 2007 - 09:00am
I saw it last night, and it was everything I dreamed it could be. Yippie-kay-yay Mother Fu%#@$ indeed! I didn't buy the tickets and I guess not paying attention enough to the press on it before hand so I had no idea going into the movie that it was PG-13 and not R. And to be honest, I did not notice a difference while watching it. Some parts seemed a little over the top, but not as bad as some of the media has proclaimed them to be. Its Die HARD, not Die EASY, of course it has to be somewhat over the top. Anyways thats just my 2-cents. I enjoyed this movie a lot and have missed this type of action flick.
JOHN FROM CINCINNATI: His Visit: Day Two - Jun 26, 2007 - 10:22pm
I finally got around to watching this episode on my DVR. I have to say that this episode was definitely better than last week's. I agree with both mlaforcer and bennyhill. You guys hit it dead on the nail. Although I can't agree with benny's spelling. Just kidding man, those homonym types can be sneaky. This show is clearly out there. The surfing shots are fairly good too; the only parts of the show that are probably the most grounded in reality.
AFI's GREATEST 100 Movies - Jun 23, 2007 - 01:04am
Actually, the list you have posted is the list from 1998. The Godfather is now #2 and Casablanca dropped to #3. There are a bunch of other differences, such as the newest movie being added, The Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (#50) and Rocky moving up from #78 to #57. You can view the rest of the differences between the 1998 list and the 2007 list here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFI%27s_100_Years..._100_Movies_%2810th_Anniversary_Edition%29
With that said, I have probably only seen about half of the movies on the list. I agree with most of their positions. Although I would be curious to see what movies would be added if it was a 150 greatest or 200 greatest. I know that probably defeats the purpose of making a list at all. But I can almost be sure that Night of the Living Dead would make it on there. Maybe even Minority Report for at least it's creative view of the future. Others that would probably make it to a 200 list could be Tombstone, The Matrix, Jurassic Park, Terminator, The Untouchables, The Planet of The Apes (1968), and Weekend at Bernie's 2 (just kidding). I'm sure that an American Werewolf in London would be probably be included in that list too.
THUNDERCATS is Puurrfect for Warners - Jun 06, 2007 - 12:56pm
To add to the list of '80's toys/cartoons that could be potential crap fests: Centurians, My Little Pony, or the Wuzzles ....(not that I admit to watching the last 2)

The Sopranos: The Blue Comet - Jun 06, 2007 - 12:06pm
I have to say that one of the best TV death scenes I have seen was Bobby's. Showing the expressions on the faces of the little model train people while you heard the screams of the bystanders and the model train crashing as it derails was just brilliant editing and cinematography. A mobsters life comes to a crashing end.
I believe that DC has said before that nothing in the show is included by accident. With that being said, I wonder what the alleged terrorist subplot has in store if anything. Tony saw the website that A.J. was looking at after he dragged him into the closet. AJ has been really following up on Al Jazeera and issues regarding the Middle East and again I wonder if there is a connection and whether it will be able to be addressed in the hour that we have left.
Fans Fight to Save JERICHO. Are They Nuts? - May 26, 2007 - 08:33pm
I watched this show up until the winter hiatus and possibly one or two episodes after it returned...but I gave up on it after that. It had so much potential, but it included too much drama with the characters (Infidelity, falling in love with the IRS agent that was sent to audit your farm, teenie-boppers falling in love, etc). If I wanted to see that crap I would have watched Desperate Housewives. This show should have been a mix between "Red Dawn" and the '83 made for TV movie "The Day After." Now that would have been effing good TV. But it wasn't and thats why it is was canceled. I say good riddance. I don't want closure, I just want the 12 or so hours of my life I committed to watching this show back.
