Cube Wants a 'Hardcore' A-TEAM Movie

There have been rumors that Ice Cube was in the running to play Sergeant B.A Baracus in the upcoming A-TEAM adaptation but no confirmations have been given due to it being so early into pre-production. Still, the actor is excited about the prospect and has already made his thoughts clear on how he would like the movie to go and what he would do with the character originally played by Mr. T.

Here's what he told MTV.

"I can't say that I'm gonna be [B.A. yet] because it's still up to Fox, the people who have the movie," Cube told MTV News on Tuesday after a taping of "TRL." "But John Singleton hit me — I believe he's gonna direct. If he directs it, I have a great chance of doing B.A. And yeah, I'd cut it. I'd get it into a Mohawk!"

"Not only was I a fan of the show and a fan of Mr. T," Cube remembered, "but it's just a great character. It's a dude, a backbone kind of dude: a little scared of airplanes, on the run from the government, that damn near sounds like me anyway! It's just a perfect fit for me."

"I don't wanna make a two-hour TV show," Cube said of reports about the film's grittier feel. "I wanna make a hardcore movie with these characters you remember, but I'm not trying to be Mr. T. I'm not going to wear all the gold and all that stuff. I think that's his thing. I'm gonna bring my flavor to the role. We're taking it to the big screen so it's something different."

Sorry dude, you as BA means direct video. Maybe in the sequel? The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) is the modern day BA.

Ya know, since it was first announced that the A-Team would hit the big screen I have wondered who would play the roles, and I gotta disagree, Ice-Cube would make a sweet B A.... I know TV adaptions sometimes bite, but I loved the A-team so much as a kid, I hope this rules.
Now who should play the rest of the team...
Hannibal- George Clooney
Face- Mathew McConaughey or Josh Lucas
Murdoch- Jim Carrey ( I know, I know but this is a fantasy pick and who does crazy better than Mr. Crazy himself)

Actually, Mr. T would make a great B.A.

BTW...speaking of Ice Cube, I saw XXX: State Of The Union...and although it has its flaws, it's actually a really fun movie with pretty good, to great, special effects provided by ILM...and certainly it is head over heels better than the original XXX.

BA must mean Broad Anus if THE NIPPLES is cast.
THE NIPPLES couldnt act as a wrestler in a movie about himself. He sucks and is going to make Black Adam a bad oneline spewing fruitcake that makes BANE in Batman and boytoy look like Paul Newman.

Do you sugest THE NIPPLES take Soulman pills to darken his skin like Jean Benet Ramsey did to become bouncey knowless?

I didnt see Lameplan but I want 10 bucks for suffering through the preview.

I told you guys Ice Cube would be rumored for it with John Singleton directing.
Hopefully a decent movie is made out of this.

It can't be any worse than Ice Cube's recent movies. That movie that opens tomorrow where he is robbing a church looks god awful (pun intended). I won't even talk about "Are We There Yet" and "Are We Done Yet". XXX: State of the Union being the highlight of his recent career tells you something.

madmanic999 I like your choices for Hannibal and Faceman. When I read Clooney I was like "D'uh! Perfect!" Not sure if that will fly but it would be sweet.
Please though, keep Jim Carey away from Murdock. It' not that I don't like Carey. I just can't see him in that role for some reason. As over the top as Murdock should be I think Carey would be waaaay too over the top.
Like the idea of Cube as BA. I can see it. I've said it before though and I'll say it again. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. There's your BA Barracus right there!
Make this as ‘hardcore’ as you wanna be but remember what made the A-Team great. It wasn’t the action. It was the idiosyncrasies of the characters and their love/hate interactions. The A-Team was popular because the A-Team members were all funny in their own way.

George Clooney... wince... God, that leaves half the population of the good ol' USA away from this movie. shiver... Yeesh. I'm at a loss for words. How bout Bruce Willis (both a bit old). At least he started out in the industry on moonlighting, not "The Facts of Life" wince... Matt M? He's not very prim. I guess madm just like pretty guys. I do like the Jim Carrey though. Might over do it. Metal has the right idea about Mr. T as BA. How bout the original cast running a Blackwater style joint and a new cast of Special Forces fellas from Say Gulf War 1? Whatever...

I think Jim Carrey could pull off HM Murdock pretty well, but the problem is 2-fold. 1) It's a "team" movie and I'm not sure he'd be willing to sign up to be part of the ensemble and not the headliner and 2) I think even if he was willing, it would pull away from the other 3 (or 4, if you add Triple-M into the mix ;)

Clooney's a big star, but he's proven he can play well with others (Ocean's films). I actually think Matthew McC would be decent as face. I think he could play the "playboy" as well as an ass-kicker as needed.

I really don't have any problems with Cube as BA. Ving Rhames might be a little bit better, but he's getting a bit long in the tooth (he's 10 years older than Cube, and 14 years older than T was at the end of the series), and I think Cube is a pretty damn good actor, from Boyz N the Hood and Three Kings (also with Clooney) to showing his funny side with the Are We ** Yet? movies and Friday.

HM Murdock, to me, is the hardest cast. You need to believe the insanity, but not see it as over-bearing. It's a tough one, and I'm not sure I envy the casting director on that one...
