Cumberbatch on Episode VII Rumors

He never says no!

By Robert T. Trate     September 10, 2013

Who better than the Sherlock Holmes to address the rumor of Benedict Cumberbatch being in the next Star Wars? So while promoting a few projects at the Toronto Film Festival Cumberbatch addressed the rumor:

This is the simple truth. J.J. and I have worked together before. I would love to work with him again. No offer has been made. That is that. And that is that."

The Telegraph got this quote from him:

"Of course I’d love to do Star Wars and work with JJ Abrams again because we had such a good time on Star Trek. But nobody has been cast and there are no offers out to anyone apart from the regulars who are returning. So that’s that rumor quashed…We’ll have to wait and see."

He never said that he is not in the new Star Wars project. What do you think Maniacs? Is Cumberbatch stalling? Is 2015 unrealistic for a Star Wars release? Sound off below!

this dude was awesome in Star trek, it would be cool to see him in Star Wars.

Considering in the past few years, we've seen actors say "Absolutely not, not true at all" for projects they're announced for a few weeks later, and then the Abrams/Cumberbatch long-lasting denials about Khan, I'd say these statements nearly add up to a solid confirmation.

Cumberbatching will now be the term for hiding one's true movie intentions from the public.

Do we know story lines of remaining episodes from canon or books? Anyone know story structure?

BunyonSnipe 9/10/2013 12:55:26 PM

There IS no canon outside the films (and some TV) The expanded universe is basically sanctioned fan fiction...

BunyonSnipe 9/10/2013 12:58:55 PM

Now I LOVE alot of the epanded universe, most of it is better than the prequels in my opinion, but they are only canon to themselves, speculation of what happens to these characters...

That said I would like if they mentioned Thrawn and some of the better EU characters, in passing at least.

BunyonSnipe 9/10/2013 1:02:39 PM

This is 30 years down the line, so alot of those stories may well have happened, but alot of it (if not ALL of it has not), but time will tell...

Some of the stronger stories (Thrawn Trilogy, Truce at Bakura) could make for some good character development, but then again they might just ignore it all...

And everyone thought he wasn't going to be Khan. Hah!  Knew that from the moment he got announced. KHANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN... KHANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!
