CW is greenlighting production on the Erin Brockovich and Eli Stone like drama pilot "Wrecking Ball," reports Variety. Richard Hatem ("Miracles") and Ross Fineman are executive-producing the hour long show. Fox TV Studios is in charge of production.

Plot Concept:
drama revolves around a young politician from a well-known family dynasty. When his electoral ambitions are derailed by a scandal, a campaign aide -- with whom he has a feisty relationship -- convinces him to use his connections to help a cancer patient fighting the medical establishment. He and the aide are then inspired to open a law firm devoted to helping out seemingly lost causes.

Wow, a legal drama that deals with lawyers standing up for the Little Guy in the face of Big Business. What a novel idea. Yeah, this hasn't been done before in The Practice, Boston Legal, Justice, L.A. Law, In Justice, or the new show Canterbury's Law. Nope, totally fresh take on lawyers.

Sigh....I think we should start a petition for all the networks to ban new series involving lawyers, doctors, and cops. Who's with me?

I'm on board. We need to extend it to reality shows as well.

Actually, petitions aren't necessary. Just remotes. If people stopped watching this dreck, it would stop getting made. The only reason these genres keep getting run into the ground is because people keep watching them (and therefore, someone makes money on them).

Petitions don't matter. Nielsen boxes do (and now, DVD box sales.)

I can't think of any doctor, lawyer, or cop shows that I've liked or watched.

I saw an episode of Eli Stone and enjoyed it, but I like Zero Cool so...

Ok, I think as a kid I watched Hunter fairly regularly for some reason. And Scarecrow and Mrs. King, if that counts. But I also enjoyed garbage like A-Team and Knight Rider, which have got to be some of the most boring shows ever made, so I wouldn't use the judgment of a pre-teen who also though Growing Pains was fun.

What's wrong with The Shield, Merin? That's an awesome and original cop show. On another note I loved Boomtown, which ironically was a combination of all of the above sans the reality show. But yeah, this dreck sounds gay and isn't Eli Stone a fantasy show...I saw previews with a dragon on them, what the hell is that all about?

The Shield is a BEAST of a show, along with Homicide: Life on the Street. Thing is, both of those shows aren't cop procedurals like NYPD Blue, Law & Order, or CSI are. They handled cop material outside the typical realms and made their shows unique. Oh yeah, and they actually cared about c-c-c-character development too. Talk about a wild idea.

I dunnon, #5, what is wrong with The Shield?

I have a negative interest in watching cop, lawyer, or doctor shows.

Sorry. It's my entertainment time and my prerogative. If you like The Shield, bully for you, watch it to your hearts content.

How about a new and updated Miami Vice?
