No Hartley? What's the point then?

Smallville is gone, Wonder Woman never came to be but The Green Arrow lives on? That may be the case with Entertainment Weekly reporting that The CW is expressing interest in a pilot for a new series based around the classic DC character. Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg have been charged with writing and executive producing a new take of the hero who made his first appearance in 1941 within the issue of "More Fun Comics" #73.
The CW has already visualized Oliver Queen on their network, with actor Justin Hartley portraying the green archer on the "Smallville" series. It should be noted that he isn't being sought for this latest series pilot order, paving the way for Berlanti, Guggenheim and Kreisberg to move a different direction with the character. Berlanti Productions is producing in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Thoughts? Sound off below!
Please don't be another soap opera with a few super heroes thrown in.
CW your STUPID. You should of did a Smallville spin off - Developed the Justice League and the Legion of Doom.
Hartley was awesome .. how retarded that he won't be a part of this. = FAIL !!!
I agree with you guys that this will be an EPIC FAIL! Hartley played a great Oliver Queen and a decent Green Arrow! I would love to see him in this title role, because for the last 5 years that is how we have seen him, and to just put someone else in the title role is so stupid! Although Hartley was Aquaman in the pilot for that show. Which didn't look horrible. But still I don't see anyone else playing him. Again it is CW aka Warner studios screwing up another great DC franchise! Please for the love of god listen to the fans!!!! Bring Hartley back! Don't drag it through a smallville like black hole! I agree with Joker, why have we not seen Justice League come about? Or at least a movie? I mean it is like DC is slacking, while Marvel is is reeping in the profits of the Comic book franchises!

Why do a "new take"? There is absolutely nothing wrong with the 70 year old origin story that he has now.
This is going to suck, basically because we have to deal with WB. The writers they have are all seasoned and proven good writers of genre properties. I'd like to see them do the Green Arrow story line not based around anything Smallville. I even like Justin Hartley in the lead... I'd like to see a more comic take on the character and less of a teen angst angle. Give me aoem good ole comic fun
Kinda agree with everybody. CW wants the young 20 something audience and they already had them locked in on Smallville and Hartley known to them as GA. Not sure why they didn't just spin it off right then.
On the other hand, the CW may not have liked the Smallville producers take on the hero and asked others to come up with their own ideas, and it looks like these guys won. In their favor is Berlanti, who knows the subject matter with screenplays for GL,Flash and creator of the enjoyable No Ordinary Family TV series. If you were going to have anybody develop a DC superhero show, he's your man.
Damn it... NO! I NEVER want to see the Smallville versions of these characters EVER again!
What the hell happened to Supermax?
After they did a great build up to doomsday and then messed that up, they should stay the hell out the dc universe. I dont need another dawsons creek meets dc.
