This is the footage we got to see at Comic Con. The people at Ghost House were nice enough to throw it up on their site. The clip and trailer do show blood, therefore age verification is needed to make sure the viewer is over 18 years of age.Enjoy.http://... Read More
Box Office: WALL-E Victorious But WANTED Strikes Hard - Jun 29, 2008 - 04:42pm
I saw both Wall-E and Wanted this weekend. I liked both. Wall-E was probably my fourth favorite Pixar film (behind Incredibles, Monsters, and Nemo). As for Wanted, I totally divorced myself from the comic before going into this one. I knew that it wasn't going to be anything at all remotely like the comic, and as a result, I saw a pretty damn entertaining movie.
As for next weekend, it's going to be close, but I think Wall-E will either barely beat out Hancock, or will come in at an awfully close second. Wanted will come in third. Hulk will probably drop one or two places, but since only one big movie is coming out next weekend there's just going to be some settling in the pecking order from this weeks list.
Comicscape: Dan Didio’s Countdown to Internet Crisis - Jun 25, 2008 - 10:31pm
So far, Quesada's books have been kicking ass. Yes, that includes Spidey's OMD/BND.
I've dropped all DC titles except for Jonah Hex (which is their only title left that is consistently well written).
DC needs to do a few things to get back on track:
1. Scrap the cheesy crossover stories. If you can't keep the story straight, nor plan ahead for a year or two (or five like Marvel has done), don't try to do a crossover event.
2. Go back to basics. Obscure characters and obscure histories are only going to attract 2 or maybe 3 fans. The rest won't care, and new fans will be too intimidated to even pick up a book seeped in the details of a minor event that happened 45 years ago.
3. Get better writers. Marvel has Joss Whedon, Strazinski, Bendis, etc., while DC really only has Palmotti as their best (and most competent) writer.
4. Make your books fun to read again. Don't drag out a story or a fight like an episode of Dragonball Z (14 episodes of the two fighters staring at each other saying how much of a bad ass they are, and then the fight (3 episodes) sucks balls and is frankly a giant letdown after the big build up). Get in, get out, tell the fucking story in a coherent fashion, and without the unnecessary masturbatory dedication to minutiae.
5. Divorce yourselves from Warner Bros. Yeah, this one is a big wish, and it'll never happen, but it would cure a lot of DC's ills.
Box Office Update: WB Has SMART Victory While HULK Drops - Jun 22, 2008 - 06:28pm
Huh. That surprised me. I thought for sure that Get Smart would finish as number two behind Hulk this week. I guess word of mouth killed it (Hulk) faster than I thought it would.
This next weekend is going to have Wall-E as number 1, Wanted in the #2 spot, and I'll be nice and say Get Smart in the #3 spot. My guess is that Hulk is going to tumble big time (the bigger they are....)this next weekend and probably land in the #7 or 8 spot.
At least that'll be better than Love Guru which will probably disappear from the top ten completely this time next week.
Thank you daforce for your comment. I would just like to say you had one of the most intelligent comments I've read to date on this site. Its a fresh breath of air to not read the same old shit. Which is immature comments saying my mom is a whore just because i dont like a movie. I just wanted to say, I apologize if you found my blog juvenile and homophobic. But I was just trying to be pretty funny while making my point at the same time. Also, make sure to prepare yourself for the inevitable fanboys who will argue you by saying stuff like, your just to stupid to get the books. Or the movie isnt 30hrs long. Because as you can see, noone on this site knows wat it means to exagerate to make your point. Everyone word you say must be a fact and taken completely serious. Anyway, thanx again for the enlighting post.
heya DaForce.. I just saw Resident Evil Extinction and posted a comment in your review... interested in hearing your thoughts on my thoughts.
by the way, i DID like Extinction better than RE: Apocalypse... however thats not saying much. Its as if they discredited RE:Apocalypse all together and went from part 1 staight to part 3.
Although I think Paul WS anderson has seen WAAAAAY too many movies to make him an effective Hollywood screenwriter, he borrowed EVERY Scene from a pre-existing hollywood movie for RE:Extinction. B+ why? because it looked good and was better than the second one? ouch.
