I tend to like Timothy Dalton, but I can't really see him playing Alfred.  I don't think that it would be in the interest of the greater good.

Timothy Dalton will work out fine. Geez folks, Alfred must be played by an older gent. You can't have some 40 or 50 year old do it. The chronology would be off. Alfred is nearly 50 when he become Bruce's guardian. And the character was supposed to have been a special forces medic in his younger days.

That's just it, Muenster...like somebody else pointed out, and whose opinion I share, Dalton doesn't look old enough even though he is...lol...but then, I still can't see him playing Alfred for some reason.  Can't explain why, and I have no good reasoning behind my feeling.  Just....something I can't put my finger on.  I am glad to see that they're talking to talented actors for the role though.

Okay...still staying skeptical here...BUT...I just saw a pretty freakin' awesome fan made trailer for Batman vs. Superman with Affleck and Cranston in the roles...I'm staying skeptical, but I'm shutting the hell up about Ben Affleck until the real trailer comes out.

You heard it here first, fellow maniacs...one naysayer is shutting the hell up! :)

Not true, Affleck has already tweeted about it and most of the entertainment shows have confirmed that he is the next batman...

@Reek...your statement reeks of crap...Alfred needing to be equal in terms of badassery...Not sure if your being scarcastic or not so plz let me know so I no longer have to think ill of you...

IMO...Hell no and then hell no some more...Just because he is british does not mean he should be Alfred...But I for one don't believe it until something out of camp Warmer Bros says other wise...

Would it not make sense if actors or even the director and producers had these web sites put out all these castings in order to cage the puplics response to them, to see how much positive or negative responses come back at them in order to decide if they would actually want to cast these actors or the actors put the image of them in the directors mind?

Mlaforce, for a short moment back in the heyday of the Smallville TV series they considered having a teenage Bruce Wayne on in order to spinoff into his own show. In the series Alfred would have been a former British Special Forces officer and would have been Wayne's Obi-Wan Kenobi. He was going to teach him all about being a badass on his way to being Batman while he got into various adventures as a pre-Dark Knight adventurer. I wouldn't have wanted that but part of me thinks that could've been a good show.

I remember hoping that that Adam Knight character in season (3?) of Smallville was actually Bruce Wayne - his name paying homage to "Dark Knight" and Adam West.
