Damon strikes oil in SYRIANA

Matt Damon is in and Amanda Peet is close to joining the cast of SYRIANA, the film inspired by the book by former CIA agent Robert Baer. Damon will play Bryan Woodman, an American oil executive who is in negotiations with a Middle East sheik for oil rights when a family tragedy occurs. Peet would play his wife, Julie.
The movie is being produced by Steven Soderbergh, George Clooney and Michael Nozik. Clooney is also in talks to play the part of Baer in the film.
