According to the Edmonton Sun, Dan Aykroyd will lend his voice to an upcoming Ghostbusters video game.

"Universal [Studios] purchased the rights from Sony for a game," Aykroyd told the Sun. "I'm actually going to have to perform and do some motion capture for them. That will be next year."

The game isn't expected to be out until 2008 at the earliest.

Maybe this explains that rumor I read the other day that there was a CGI Ghostbusters 3 movie on its way.

I had seen footage of a first person shooter style ghost busters game for the XBOX 360 On G4's "Attack of the Show. While it looked pretty professional there seemed to be some contention as to it's legitimacy as a real game or a really good fan creation.

Motion capture? What could he possibly do that no one else in better shape and still funny can't? Cool that there is going to be a game, but it still won't make up for the fact that part 2 sucked BIG TIME!

Yes the game is comming but their is also an animated film on the way as well. You can read all about it here and listen to the interviews with Ackyroyd.: http://www.cisnfm.com/station/blog_mike_mcguire.cfm? The game was being produced by game company Zootfly for Xbox. As of late im not sure if they are the ones still making the game but its in production.

I got the impression Zootfly was not actually making a Ghostbusters game. Rather, they made those videos to show off their proprietary engine. It was obviously based on Ghostbusters, but it looked as though they had no rights to the property, which is why the logo was completely changed. I thought the Zootfly game footage that we saw online looked pretty awful. The proton guns don't kill the ghosts, what with them being ghosts. The atmosphere seemed all wrong, though it may fit that NYC Hell storyline that was mentioned awhile back. There were no traps being used. The graphics were also sub-par for a next gen console (well, not the Wii). Right now, I am excited, but if it turns out the Zootfly game is what they're talking about, that excitement will be taken down several notches. Hopefully they can get everyone else on board for this game. Bull Murray said he had no interest in returning to the franchise, but maybe he'll consider at least lending his voice for a game. Apparently one of the sites linked to above (in #8 I think) suggests he will do the voice work. I certainly hope that's accurate.
