Danes joins T3 cast

Teen angst ingénue Clare Danes has signed onto the testasterone fueled sequel TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES. Danes is set to replace Sophia Bush, who was previously cast to play human hero John Conner's (Nick Stahl) romantic lead.

According to VARIETY, director Jonathan Mastow recast the role because he felt Bush was too young for the rigor of the shoot and the weight of the part.

"This was a difficult decision because Sophia is a talented and charismatic performer," said Mostow to the trade paper. "However, we feel, after reviewing the dailies, that her appearance and manner play younger than what we wanted for the role. We look forward to working with Sophia on future projects."

The 100 day shoot for the $170 million film began April 15. Warner Bros. is expecting a July 2003 release.
