Series creator Danny Boyle had to bow out of directing 28 Weeks Later due to a very schedule at that time but when the second installment was hitting theaters, the co-writer and director of the first film mentioned briefly that he would be interested in coming back for a third film if the story was right. Well, a year and a half has passed and we've had rumors of other directors getting attached to 28 Months Later only to be debunked later with little word from Boyle.

Until now.

While promoting his latest project Slumdog Millionaire, Boyle once again confirmed to Sci Fi Wire that he was interested in filming the third installment of the horror franchise. When asked if he was going to lead behind the camera, here's what he had to say.

"I'd certainly like to," Boyle said. ""I feel the idea is quite a strong idea, and it could well involve directing it. Yeah, absolutely."

When pressed about the story concept, he wouldn't give up the details.

"But I've got an idea for it, so I can't really tell you any more than that at the moment, but hopefully that might happen," he said.

Boy do I hate zombies.  A lot.

I hope he'll do it. Danny Boyle has a hand for Zombies. But don't do any more space operas please.

Get it right people............ They are not Zombies !  They are just infected people by some crazy virus created by the Government. They arn't the walking "undead" they didn't crawl out of the graves.  They are more like the people in the movie the Crazies.

More like Rabid Dogs on the hunt. Thats what makes it more believable.

I  would love to have another movie. I was hoping it would go 28 months then Finally 28 years.

Is it true that this is going to include the prequel short film 28 seconds later?

More crap from the people who brought us crap.  Don't care for any of these movies.  By the way who the hell cares if it's zombies or infected people all looks the same to me.

The frightening aspect of Zombies isn't that they're undead.  It's that becomng one means a loss of identity and of self, that you become a mindless creature whose sole purpose is to feed and ruin the lives of others.  It's a terrible concept to me...  Whether the Zombies are undead or not doesn't even make a difference.

Amish, wouldn't that be 28 Seconds Before

I'm all for Boyle to get behind the camera again for this sequel. I thouroughly enjoyed the first two.

No the thing thats frightening is how in these movies , the infected if their blood gets anywhere near a opening on your body, YOUR SOOOOOOOOOO becoming one of them.  They don't even have to bite you. You can get a splatter in your eyes or mouth and your done.  It's a infection a plague - man made virus tho that could happen in today's world. That to me is very scarey.

It's more of a doomsday scenario - end of humanity with no hope then just classified as a zombie move. Most Zombie movies are stupid o me anyway they are more humorous then scarey. Not the 28 days and weeks later movies. Make 28 Months then finally 28 Years Later !

AMiSH, I think they'd have to go through hours and minutes first, then seconds. It could be a whole prequel trilogy, just like Star Wars...

28 Days was incredible. For me, it wasn't about the visceral fear of the whole freaky zombie (or whatever you want to call them) thing. It was the psychological aspect. How the infection affected society. How Jim reacted to extreme situations, not having been a part of the build-up to said situation.  My favorite scene is when the Major is showing Jim around and they see the chained up guy. He tells him how the infected is teaching him about how long they can go without food, etc. Excellent stuff. 28 Weeks was ok, but more standard zombie shoot-em-up fare. Months might be a bit better if Boyle is more involved. I'll take a wait and see approach.

Great news and I dont understand how anyone who calls themself a Maniac would not like the movie sunshine. To me it was one of the best space movies ive seen in a while. I like days better than weeks but they're kinda like surf and turf. the action isnt very linear in the first more chaotic. the second is more organized because the military is involved. with the exception of micheal mowing 30 infected people with a helicopter.  Alphan what was your problem with Sunshine??? little slow maybe but interesting enough  to sit through. who know maybe our sons and daughters might have to jumpstart the sun someday. . .
