Ah come on! Disney made gold out of one of their rides in POTC! LoTL has potential, if done right.

I will have to see to believe, at least the trailer anyway.

if they make it cool and not campy I would check this out. I am a child of the 70s so i remember this show well. My most vivid image is the raft going over the waterfall during the intro.

They could make this really cool, but I bet they'll go for campy. Which is sad.

DangerRick, the key phrase is "if done right" which is tough since they have Will Ferrell for the lead actor... I'm also a child of the 70's but I dont remember anything about a "disgraced" paleontologist, if I remember correctly the father (who's name I forgot) was "replaced" by the kids uncle. The Story goes that the father got to return home but the portal only stayed open for one person to get through (conveniant?) and at that moment the uncle appeared through the rift and was trapped with the two kids. Thats where I started watching.
i never thought the show was intentionally "campy". Batman (60's) was INTENTIONALLY campy... Land of the Lost had a fairly goofy concept but played things pretty straight considering the budget they were restricted to... the remake (relaunch?) in the 90's SUCKED (I stomached one episode just to check it out) they added a laugh track, had a jeep fall into a giant crack in the earth and at the end of each episode there was a educational "point" of some sort (kinda like the latter GI JOE 'toons had a stupid message for kids - " I'm Sgt. Slaughter and while coaching your soccer game I say dont talk to strangers!"..ugh.
anyway... I think Jack Black would be perfect for the father here... but thats just me...its Will Ferrell cast as the father... not as one of the kids... right?

That monkey boy Chaka was the JarJar Binks of the 70's for me. You just wanted to take a mallet and just smack him upside the head. But that block of shows w/ LotL, Sigmund the Sea Monster and the Shazam/Isis Power hour just screwed with my preteen perceptions preStarWars. And interspersed in the shows was that Hershey's Chocolate Bar commercial ("Hershey's is...the great American Chocolate baaar...") that contributed to my high cholesterol.

yeah...big time agreed on Chaka... I dont remember him talking with a Jamacan accent though and he wasnt as much of a doofus, He was "just a stupid monkey boy" and therefore Chaka kinda reminded of of the Monkeys from 2001: a Space Oddessy (years later of course) who first layed eyes on the Monolith... I think for me in the 70's having a monkey as a pet would be far cooler than having Jar Jar as a pet.

Hot Rod was probably the stupidest movie of last year....I had to turn to off half way....

I like Will Ferrell, but this has turd written all over it. I thought the Kroffts wanted to redo LotL with the budget they never had in the '70s?
