@redvector. I sure hope Marvel told them to fuck off. Essentially it's a "how dare you ask for an extension as you keep butchering our characters in the X-men, FF and DD franchise"

Goodbye Fox!

Wiseguy 8/15/2012 9:07:15 AM

Everyone wants Marvel to have all their characters back in-house myself included.

The one problem I see is that Marvel is only going to put out so many films a year so this could mean DD goes to the back of the line. If Marvel were to have FF, X-Men and Spidey I wonder if they'd up their output or just limit the characters' films. I can't see them having 8 or more franchises going all at once

ElBaz13 8/15/2012 10:26:18 AM

Agree Wiseguy. That's why they should focus on TV. I thought Jeph Loeb was heading that division? So far we have had Marvel projects that were nixed. Jessica Jones, Hulk TV show and Punisher (the whole moonlights as a cop crap) So is Jeph Loeb the problem?

Marvel should consider tackling the small screen with lesser characters like DD and Punisher.

So if Marvel was to have all of their characters back, then could have 3 universes:

Marvel Cinematic:: Avengers films, Spidey and FF. They are the heavy hitters.

Marvel Knights/TV: DD, Punisher, GR, Cage and Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, Moon Knight

Marvel Mutants: All X-men/mutant related stuff.

If you look back a lot of the Marvel crossovers in 80s/90s, that's usually how they split up their events.

Yeah I could see that working. I guess wether or not they get all their characters in-house some will never get their proper due. It's just too many at the end of the day but I feel that most belong on the big screen.

Relegating DD and Moon Knight to tv, unless done exceptionally well, would be a crime IMO. But at the end of the day MK or DD on tv beats no MK or DD at all so yeah I'd tune in faithfully.

True but TV has come a long way. I find I'm enjoying more TV shows than movies being released out there. Walking Dead, Spartacus, Game of Thrones. If done properly, they could probably have more justice to the characters than the movies gave them.

I also find TV more serial style like comic books. Therefore long story arcs can be interpreted in multi episodes as opposed to being jammed in a 2 hour movie. The Elektra saga could be a whole season!

With Marvel's full plate right now they're probably fine with FF, X-Men, and Spider Man being pimped out. Ghost Rider was such a massive bomb Sony will likely let the rights to that expire.

DD is probably the best bet for tv followed by Heroes For Hire. Moon Knight's history and origin is such a convoluted mess so I don't think he would work for tv. Plus anybody not knowing him would dismiss him as a Batman knock off.

DD has never been a "team player".  I like him going at fighting crime solo.  Now, the nice little cameo is cool when needed.
