VARIETY catches up with DAREDEVIL screenwriter and director Mark Steven Johnson about his work on the film. Johnson claims to have been focused on the character since childhood. As an adult, he contributed analysis to an earlier version of the screenplay even though he knew he was unavailable to complete the script at the time.
Johnson says, "I read their draft, wrote meticulous notes, and told them what I'd do. They said great, when can you start writing? I told them I couldn't. I was off to make SIMON BIRCH and just wanted to make sure it was good. They looked at me kind of funny."
