Dark Castle sets sail with GHOST SHIP

Date: Wednesday, October 24, 2001

Just as their latest horror film, 13 GHOSTS, readies for the 2001 Halloween season, Joel Silver, Robert Zemeckis and the rest of the folks at Dark Castle Productions are already gearing up for their next project. However, it will differ from the company's previous features in that it will not be a William Castle remake.

"We're starting another film in January," says producer and Dark Castle Productions principle Silver. "Steve [Beck is] going to write the next one, too. It's called GHOST SHIP. It's not a William Castle movie it's one that kind of came to us but it's in the same essential formula. The way Bill designed [his films is] you start the movie in some location and then go into a set and then stay in that set. It works for us today because it allows us to spend our money wisely and build one incredible place and give Steve 50 days in there to make a good movie. That's how we're going to do this one, too. It's about a haunted ocean liner; it's pretty cool. But that's the next Dark Castle picture."

Plans are for the production company to continue creating horror films, both original and Castle remakes, with a new project debuting each Halloween.
