The Associated Press & Reuters have passed along that a crew member has died while filming for Christopher Nolan's upcoming sequel, THE DARK KNIGHT. As seems the case with a lot of accidents involving filmwork, it wasn't anyone involved with the principal photography aspect of the movie but a behind-the-scenes special effects technician. The SE tech was filming a test run on a closed track near Surrey, UK involving the Batmobile when his 4x4 (with Camera crane) crashed into a tree.

Surrey Police and someone from the Health & Safety Executive said they were investigating the incident.

Thanks to Maniac Scooper Luc for passing this bit along.

Yeah, that always sucks when that happens. It is a shame. Too bad there are no real life super heros that could have saved him. And yes I know cops & firemen are,,,I was speaking from a movie web-site point of view.

Usually when there is a serious injury or death, there must have been serious negligence involved. Stunts are usually rehearsed again and again to see if they are safe. There will probably be an investigation into what happened. Chances are there will be criminal and/or civil charges pending.

jppintar, did you even bother reading and understanding the article? It wasn't someone involved in stunts who died... it was a SFX technician who crashed his 4x4 into a tree. But just the same, to the technician... R.I.P.

Seriously... usually when an auto crashes into something it is called an "Accident". So, lets leave it as an accident and move on.

Yeah, really, why must there be some negligence. Sometimes, things happen. He wasn`t doing something necessarily dangerous, but you can die stepping out of your house. It was his time. R.I.P

Just because someone dies doesnt mean its their time. It means the shit hit the fan and something fucked up happend so now they are dead. I hope he got to see most of footage before Jesus killed him fo no reason.
