DARK KNIGHT Footage at Wizard Chicago Con

This is for those Maniacs in the Chicago area. It's been announced that there will be a DARK KNIGHT panel at the Wizard World Convention today in the windy city, says Superhero Hype. There will be no trailer or teaser trailer like Nolan and Warner Bros released at the Comic Con 2007 but there will be actual footage shown.

One small snag though...According to the report, there will be no recording devices allowed in the panel. Not even cell phones. Here's the report over at Superhero Hype.

I just got back from Wizard World Chicago... with exciting news!! At the end of the DC Nation panel today, it was announced that there WILL be a TDK panel tomorrow!! They didn't specifically mention "TDK", but did drop several hints that it's definitely going to be that.

Here's the info:

At 10am at the DC Comics booth, several things will be given out to those lucky enough to be at the head of line to get them. 1) secret item, 2) wristband, 3) piece of paper with important instructions.

The wristband will get people into a "special DC/WB presentation" in the Dave Cockrum Room at 6pm, not 2pm as previously thought. They're going to pack the room full with people.

NO ELECTRONICS of any kind allowed. Nothing that can record sound and/or images. This includes cell phones, mp3 players, video cameras, still image cameras, etc. No one will be allowed in the panel if they have any of these items. And I wasn't sure if this was a joke (even though they said they were being serious), but apparently there will be people scoping out the room with night vision goggles. They said they want this to be something special for the people in the room, not something special for 1 million people on youtube.

Also, at the beginning of WW this morning, I had talked to a guy working the DC booth. At first he acted like he knew nothing about any TDK panel, but after his boss left he told me that there will be footage shown, but no trailer.

Obviously, that doesn't mean someone won't be able to sneak in a cell phone or something if they try. Still, we can hope Warner Bros puts the official con footage somewhere "sanctioned" online for all of us to see it. If footage or a report is made of the footage, I'll pass it along to you later today.

DARK KNIGHT hits theaters everywhere July 18, 2008.

haha ... they are finally cracking the whip. but I bet a nerd or two slip in a cell. cant wait to see if they do because I have been waiting for some footage after the "dialogue" trailer they released (which dont get me wrong ... i liked it greatly, but would love some new stuff)

Agree with you Maverick.
I am also just glad that Nolan was able to make Batman respected again, and yeah even better than before. Nice to see the nay-sayers had to eat it on Begins.

I've heard rumors that for the third film, nolan and crew are altering the original dick grayson/robin storyline [because as we all know, robin usually spells the end of a good batman franchise], to bring in Dick Grayson as Nightwing. Milo Ventimiglia (peter petrelli on HEROES) has expressed great interest in playing the role of Grayson/Nightwing, should this indeed happen.

Now i have no problem with this, especially if Nolan does Nightwing right, but i forsee plot holes seeing as how they'd have to set up the "death" of the new robin at the hands of the Joker before anything happens to give the adult Grayson a reason to become Nightwing.

id like to see this maybe hinted at at the end of the "begins" trilogy and maybe give us a Nightwing franchise of its own with a cameo from Batman

Thats stupid.Nightwing is LAME !

BUT yeah rumors lol I doubt this will ever take place. Nolan has said he doesn't even want to envolve any story with Robin what so ever.

If they are going to do Robin they should do it with the original way and keep it along the lines of the comics. If its done right it will be kick ass i personally enjoy the dynamic duo then batman on his own.

Nobody really cares about Nightwing , and Grayson was better off when he was Robin. Yeah he got older but after that he was pretty much useless.

Why do you think there has been 3 different Robins over the years. Cause if he's done right it would be awesome. Esp if its Tim Drake Robin.

Sorry but in this Batman - no Robin at all! Or Nightwing either. As much as I like them both I'd prefer that they stick to Batman.

Besides, whoever said that this would be a trilogy anyway? With such great talent, years of material and a rogues gallery as long as your arm, why would they try to limit themselves to just three movies?

Besides, I don't even know why producers are limiting movies to three nowadays anyway. Just because Lucas did it doesn't mean everyone has to.

"One small snag though...According to the report, there will be no recording devices aloud in the panel."

So there will be no recording devices that can be heard at this panel????? Whatever happened to editing and correct grammer? You internet journalist wannabes really ought to go pick up some dictionaries or something.

There will be no recording devices ALLOWED.

Freaking idiots. I'm so tired of seeing this crap all over the internet.

DarkJedi • Aug 11, 2007, 07:31pm •
Sigh...

I know it's pronounced ALLOWED.

Mistakes fucking happen, Bama. They happen at Variety. They happen at Hollywood Reporter. They happen at Entertainment Weekly. I daresay they will happen with me and Mania.

I know that I will make a mistake. I'm sorry you think I should be PERFECT.

Let me and the rest of us know when you get off your high horse.

Now, time to talk about BATMAN and not me making one error that I already knew about...

As far as the "Robin/Nightwing" rumors. That began earlier this week with a MTV article, guys.

Milo V. (from Heroes) told MTV that he really ...really wants to be in the Batman franchise. When asked which part he would like to play...he said "Robin!!".

Mtv then immediately associated Robin with killing the franchise like it did with the previous Batman movies.

Milo tried to calm Mtv down by saying there was a "more cool" way to introduce Robin into the franchise and yet keep it dark and awesome in Nolan style...and Milo brought up being "Nightwing".

Bravo!!!! Excellent rebuttal. Nice touch falling back on the 'f' word there. Very professional and adult.

Bama, I hold no ill-will against you.

:)

No Rebuttal was needed.

Instead of talking about the subject matter, you dissected one single line of text and assumed I wasn't aware there was a dictionary terminology for the word "Allowed" associating it with "online wannabe journalist". That was rather insulting for you to imply my direction. I wasn't even offended by that nice & tidy insult you gave. You want to know why? Because leading trade magazine AND book publishers make the same mistakes over and over...I have countless magazines and classic novels in my collection which portray a wide variety of grammar mistakes. It happens. I'm not offended that I make an occasional mistake. I've dealt with that acknowledgement and I've even come to grips with the few that assume I must be perfect. You haven't been the first to point out a grammar mistake and I daresay you won't be the last. These things happen...

I could shoot back how "adult and professional" for you to shoot such a nice summary of my literary knowledge but why bother?

You got in your "zingggggg" comment so why bother, right?

You brought it to everyone's attention that Jarrod Sarafin made a mistake and wrote "aloud" instead of "allowed" at 4 am in the morning.

"Bravo" yourself?

As I say, I hold no ill-will.

I'm human though. I admit to that also. I admit to making mistakes as does everyone else in my profession.

Just last week, Variety (complete with 7 different "editors") mispelled overseas instead of oversees. Did they blink an eye? No. They continued forward.

I knew five seconds after I published this article that I wrote "aloud" instead of "allowed". I didn't correct anything because I figured the readers would be able to assume that I made an error in the wee bits of the morning..I was right of course. The first 6 comments dealt with Batman subject matter until you chose to say how "naive and poser-like" I was...

Nevermind that the top authors of our day make the very same mistakes. No, it's me with the fault for making an error..

BamaBaz,

If you are going to correct somebody's spelling, you had best use correct spelling yourself, if you want your admonishment to carry any weight (which, in either case, it doesn't, just thought you'd like to know). "GRAMMAR" is the proper spelling, not "GRAMMER" as you so clumsily dashed off.

Yes, you may argue that you are not the "internet journalist wannabe" that is to be held to such a high standard, but then again, you are paying nothing for the privilege of obtaining the information that you read here, are you? ARE YOU?

There is something to be said of civility, of which you deserve OR possess absolutely none, you unlearned, vacuous clod. Your low-class progeny is all too common on the internet, in fandom, in the human race. For the sake of all that is good, my best suggestion to you is to sever your bloodline NOW, so that you will never be able to taint the human gene pool, if it is not too late. Take your next of kin with you, as well as your distant relatives. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!
