DARK KNIGHT Gambles With Spawn

A new actor has been cast in the next edition of BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT. Actually, it goes a little beyond that from what the reports are saying. Michael Jai White (SPAWN) has been cast as a character named "Gamble" in the next adventure of the Caped Crusader. This character is an official DC character that has never appeared in the Batman comics before but from what people are saying, he may be possibly getting a recurring role in future Batman comics. Enough so that they give him a name like Gamble I guess.

I won't go into detail here because there were actually some spoilers included in this news story over at MTV. Producers Emma Thomas and Chuck Roven actually tell us in this link what Gamble's role will be in the film and when he comes into play. Obviously, it's not a big spoiler but still, some people would prefer to stay away from any story details.

I don't know what to think of this. With all these names being added to the flick every day, I'm starting to get a bit worried that there will be so many characters that it will bring the story down like PotC3. Let's just hope its a small part and it doesn't take away from the central characters.

I honestly think that this just seems like a lot because they aren`t really spacing out the news very well. This is like the 8th scoop in 2 months. Slow down Nolan bros!

Somehow...I get the feeling that the storyline and character introductions of Gamble, (regardless if it's an "official" DC character) in Nolan's THE DARK KNIGHT might end up being something like 1990's release of TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES:

That movie (TMNT) introduced the audience to the ninja turtles, the main villian, and supporting cast, that I understand...However, by the third act of the movie Casey Jones (that Jason Meyers-wannabe, vigilante with a hockey stick, beating up bad guys), was introduced and the movie sorta, kinda strayed away from the main characters' action and plot...I.E., too many eggs in one basket...Just like Warner Bros. 1997's BATMAN & ROBIN, and this year's SPIDER-MAN 3

Then again, I trust Nolan's decision and vision for the cape crusader's next adventure, let's see what happens.

BTW: Happy 4th of July, everyone! Let's all recognize the 10th anniversary of the release of BATMAN & ROBIN...ha ha ha ha just kidding, people!

I agree metalwater.
It's about time Micheal Jai White got some well deserved exposer. He a very underated actor and martial artist. Wesley Snipes was my fav, but he's well not quite up par with Micheal White. Hell if they ever continue with another Blade movie, the should pick him for the part. Well they should've at least cast him for series which was canceled. I bet it would still be on the air if was in it. If when Todd get the Spawn sequel going I hope cast him again as Spawn. It's not his fault the movie was as good as it should've been. They made it PG-13 Batman clone movie. Spawn is not batman.

So basically they are going to do with Gamble what they did with Harley Quinn in the animated series. Introduce him first in the movie and then have him been part of the official Batman lore. White can play a bad guy well I believe plus he looks bad ass.

While it may seem there are a bunch of characters in the Dark Knight I don't think it will hurt the film cause many of the characters being announced are role players. I believe many of them are probably being set up for the third film. Take the Eric Roberts, he is playing Sal Maroni who is the guy that scars Harvey Dent bringing out Two Face finally out of him. They can introduce him in the Dark Knight and have him be captured by Batman early in the film and then open the 3d Bat film with his trial and him scarring Dent. Thus Two Face is born early in the film and they have the rest of the movie to set up Two Face's story. I believe Goyer had an idea early on of the Joker scarring Dent in trial but if they already got Sal Maroni they might as well use him.

Or like the link says maybe Batman and Gordon decide to focus their attention on the Joker(and Scarecrow maybe) and the mob bosses are left for a third film where Two Face takes justice into his own hands and starts killing mob bosses (Roberts & White). The third film with Two Face can be excellent if they show how he & Batman mirror each other and Batman was a step away from becoming a criminal himself.

My only question is this, what role will be Anthony Michael Hall be playing? It still hasn't been announced. Personally I don't want to know until the film opens up so they at least something is a surprise in the movie for me. I'm thinking if they keep up with the mob bosses the Anthony Michael Hall could play the Ventriloquist/Scarface who is a mob boss in the comics. Plus he has multiple personality disorder and that ties in perfect with Harvey Dent/Two Face. Maybe they'll show both in them in therapy or something :)

Will everyone not appearing in this film please raise your hand? Doing it this way might just be faster. Is there anyone left in Hollywood that isn't involved in this film? This is getting ridiculous.

Still, I trust that Nolan knows what he is doing. I hope...

When Batman begins was in production and the names attached to that cast were being announced, people freaked out about how big it was (myself included to some degree). I mean with Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Liam Neeson, Ken Watanabe, Ciliian Murphy, Tom Wilkinson, and Rutger Hauer, it seemed like Christian Bale and Batman would somehow seem pushed out of the spotlight.

I'll give Nolan the benefit of the doubt this time around.

MJW should be fine in this film. Looking forward to it.
