Thanks, Violator.  I know I have a Batman logo as my avatar, but don't mistake that for Avengers/Batman bias.  I am definitely more of a Batman fan, but I'm telling you now that I'm looking forward to Avengers almost as much as TDKR.

I expect both of these movies to be so well made that aspect will cancel each other out.  Same goes for the DC/Marvel fan base.  The box office winner will likely be determined by the movie goers that typically aren't comic book fans.  In other words, simple economics (which I think most of us have been overlooking in this discussion).

That's my two cents.  Let the box office war begin!

Elbaz, I'm willing to bet you that the audience who enjoys Batman is also a similar audience as those who like the Marvel characters from the Avengers movie, so who are we kidding?  Millean makes a great point in that non of the individual Marvel characters like Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, and Thor did anywhere near the box office of TDK, which didn't need help from any other DC heroes.  Mind you, Avengers should do terrific box office if the movie is as good as the trailers promise us but those who are convinced that it'll do way better than TDKR may be surprised.  It may not do as well as TDK, a billion dollars is a tough number to crack, even though there's been 10 others to have done it and most of them fairly recently.  It doesn't matter does it?  At the end of the day Millean is right, we the fans will win out because this is one of the greatest genre movie years in recent memory, so let's enjoy it!!

Official rating

I was going to rate this with turds but after seeing the first trailers and clips I don't think turds do it justice. I now rate it a big puddle of diarreah, the mpaa may not agree with my rating system but they share my view

Wise, come on man, we all know how much of a closeted Nolan Batman fan you are!  Perhaps you publicly come down so hard on his Batman films because inside you know how much better they really are then the Burton Batman bullsh$t!!  The official rating for TDKR along with BB and TDK...PURE PERFECTION as is my opinion!!  LOL!!

millean 4/10/2012 1:28:15 PM

I'm just shocked that it took until now for Wiseguy to chime in.  Speaking of turds, it looks like his Avatar avatar is trying to get rid of one!

Who knew until now that a big puddle of diarreah was the most awesome thing EVER?!?!!?  Someone pass me a spoon!

I wonder what color their poops are? I'm guessing like neon-glowing green or something.

Wiseguy 4/10/2012 2:03:52 PM

Nah millean this is that real watery diarreah, the one that comes either from sickness or eating the most putrid shit out there, like indian food or something. You'll be needing a straw

therockdltj 4/10/2012 2:17:40 PM

I agree with you Wisseguy! Its like the diarreah you get after Taco Bell!

I would prefer Scott's film to be "R".  As far as Bats...it was a given it would be PG 13.  I mean, even though it carries a lot of adult themes, kids love some Batman.

Looking forward to both movies, but TDKR I will see opening night. The Avengers has more of an appeal to family and kids, I think, and I don't want to see a packed movie in a packed theatre with kids crying and jumping around.

Also, the marketing for Avengers is insane right now, I feel like Disney is trying to step up their game because of how John Carter performed.

Besides, doesn't Avengers come out in 3D? Could be wrong, but if Avengers dominates financially, how do we compare it a move like TDKR that isn't coming out in 3D? Would rather see tickets sales than $$ report.

I'm just excited to see as many superhero flicks as I've seen these past couple years. It's a great time to be a comicbook fan, I say.
