We had one more confirmation that a 6-minute prologue to The Dark Knight Rises will arrive in theaters in a month's time for fans across the globe.

A few weeks after it was revealed that director Christopher Nolan was planning the same type of prologue that he utilized for the Dark Knight back in December 2007---attached to I Am Legend IMAX showings---the MPAA has officially rated a similar block of video to be shown off when Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol arrives in IMAX theaters on December 16. As with the other Batman features under Nolan's direction, the 6-minute prologue has been officially rated PG-13 for "some violence". Much like the previous event, we're sure the studio will eventually pass along a list of the theaters across the nation which will be showing off the 6 minutes of action. When they do, we'll pass it along to you.

The third installment in Nolan's trilogy will star Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata, Nestor Carbonell, Matthew Modine, Tom Conti, Joey King, Brett Cullen, Chris Ellis, Josh Stewart, Christopher Judge, Adam Rodriguez and Rob Brown. Returning franchise writers David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan penned the script.

The Dark Knight Rises into theaters July 20, 2012.

My town is so not going to get this.  Hope that exclusive 70mm IMAX rumor isn't true or my town is getting the shaft.

Sorry Hollywood, I'm not interested in seeing another crappy Mission Impossible film just to see a prologue for the next Batman film. Why don't you try to make better movies and I'll be interested in going to see them for what they are...not the carrot you dangle in front of them?

It looks like the rumours of it being the opening scene where Bane breaks the Bat's back maybe true!

I haven't been a mission impossible fan but I don't think this one is going to suck. I'm going to give Brad Bird a chance and the prologue is a bonus.

IMAX isn't IMAX if it's not 70mm!

IMAX is Awesome, and very difficult to shoot with...  When one cinematographer (can't remember who) was shooting using the format he said to his Camera Operator, "Set focus to the subject's closest eye", and the camera op replied, "What part of the eye?!"

wallyrus 11/10/2011 7:05:21 PM

...because of the size of the format you get extremely narrow depth of field.

Did I mention I have the worlds biggest IMAX screen 2 minutes from my house. :)

The Mission Impossible movies are always good.  I can't wait to see the Batman prologue!
