Minor plot-related setting details inside: There may not be a lot going on this morning in the world of genre news but the residents of Hong Kong were definitely busy over the past week. Some of those residents were angered by the production of the DARK KNIGHT (due to requests to keep their lights on all night) while others were so pleased about filming, they swamped the production causing some issues for some of the crew members. Still, a lot of people were on the scene to snap pictures and videos of Bats getting prepped to take a plunge off a very high rise in Hong Kong. There were also snapshots & video coverage of the press conference held there between Nolan, Freeman and Bale.

To check out the many video links and set photos of the Hong Kong shoot/conference, browse through some pages right here.

THE DARK KNIGHT hits theaters July 18, 2008.

They are going to run this movie into the ground. Geez have some anonymity. Everytime something happens or some new location or script detail occurs it's out to the public. It's like WB did Begins perfect so they can draw the Bat fans back in so they could commercialize and spoil him again. I'm expecting news of Batman taking a dump in the film to show up here.

'Not sure I would have worded it just so, but CaptainJackSparibs' has a good point. I think "Batman Begins" had the distinct advantage of being sort of a low-profile experiment on the part of the studio, which meant that not only did we get a good movie but one that actually surprised the people that saw and appreciate it. Now, it seems like the "... Dark Knight" production is riddled with contradictions. They went to all the trouble of making the Joker's first appearance in the movie special by filming it in an IMAX format, and yet we've seen more pictures of the Joker online than we have Batman - literally -- and everyone already knew what Batman would essentially look like. I still think this will be a good movie, but I hope it doesn't get run into the ground by its own studio promotion. WB seems to have a bad habit of jinxing its own cash cows with excess hype and "leaks."

In different Bat related news, in five days we'll finally find out what the scavenger hunt B.S. over at whysoserious.com will reveal. I'm guessing it'll be another scavenger hunt.

I for one tend to avoid alot of the info on upcoming movies so that I don't hear too much about plot details. But I think for the vast majority of the moviegoing audience aren't even looking at most of these little bits of PR on the web. Only because we are genre fans do we think there is an overwhelming amount of stuff on these movies. They probably won't know a thing until they see a movie trailer. "Oh wow! They're doing another Batman movie? I might want to see that!"

I agree with CaptainJack. Monkeyfoot has a point about the genre fans, at least until the Batman happy meals come out...

Monkeyfoot is right. Most people I know not into this genre or movie fans in general are barely aware of this movie. It's mostly us creating the buzz right now with every little bit they let out and with this viral marketing they have going, which I hate.

Ya remember the olden days when you used to only get a hint of what movies were coming out by the teasers at the start of some other movie you went to see? I know a lot of people that are still like that. As for the Dark Knight movie I can only hope that they can recreate the same feel the first movie had. I am wondering now how they are gonna portray the Joker upon lookin at the photo on this page. Seems hes in makup ..not the chemical bath treatment that his history has always been. I can see wanting to differ from the original Batman movie but I hope they are careful bout changing too much. Heres an idea to ponder...from the end of "Begins" it seems he was already thinkin of himself as the Joker even before he and Batman had met. So perhaps this pic is how he goes around prior to that...afterwords..in a confrontation with Bats..he gets dunked in the vat and viola our real insane Joker is produced. Just an idea that has no basis other than my own opinion but is a possible reason to release photos of Joker but then keep him out of the teaser other than a voice over.
