Date: Wednesday, August 06, 2008

One superhero has fallen while the other has risen. The Dark Knight has moved to the 7th spot on the All-Time Domestic Blockbuster list while Spider-Man moves down to 8th place. The feat makes this latest Bats adventure the highest grossing comic adaptation of all time in North America with a domestic gross of $405.7 million in 19 days of theatrical release.

Jack Sparrow is the next challenger for Batman with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest ranked 6th at $423.3 million.

Well we all saw it coming, but I liked Spidey better.

Bite your tongue!...Philistine!

I think the only thing they have in common is that they are both superheros. That is where the similarities end. They are way different movies. I liked Spiderman, but as Hanso always says.....Dark Knight owns, Son. TDK is a much better movie IMO than Spiderman. I think it will surpass POTC:DMC no problem......wheather or not it beat Titanic remains to be seen.

Spidey, Batman, Superman, X-2, Inc.Hulk and IronMan still rank above TDK for me. That's going by the feeling I got when I watched those films at their time of release. That isn't a slight at TDK which I liked but didn't leave me in awe or inspired.

Ditto on Whiskey's comments. Go Batman go. I just saw it again - I'm really hoping they are in no rush to bring the Joker back - I just can't get over how well Heath did....

You're a sad sad little man Wiseguy but I still love ya.

Capt. Jack is going down! Ownage bitches!! Buahawahahawahaha.

"you've changed things, there's no going back"

"Want to see a Magic trick?"

"Here's Capt. Jack"

"watch Jack drink this Rum I gave him."

"Watch Jack keal over from the Rum laced with Acid."

Joker Owns Jack...Who's next?

Filch, you might be insane.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Oh and I've never been to Canaan, but I have never been a fan of Gypsies. They scare me. Neither of which have anything to do with me still loving TDK, just not as much as Spidey, but I read Spiday as a kid so forgive me. Still Philistine, very funny. Moz, I had no idea you were alive in the 1800's.

I see 500 mil, but I don't know that I can believe 600 mil.

I think I follow Wiseguy's thoughts to a degree. I said it already that I really thought TDK was a great movie with a classic performance, but it does feel different than some of the other comic book films. I think Nolan has made it so realistic that it now feels like crime drama more than comic book adaptation--and I'm not saying this is a bad thing.

Spiderman, X2, Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man had an air of the fantastic that comes with watching characters that are larger than life and beyond the realm of possibility.

Daredevil and Ghost Rider made me feel like taking a shit in the yard on someone else's copy of Superman Returns. I'll never buy it.

600 mil is tough for sure...

Inspired!!! I was extremely inspired by TDK. I hear you Wiseguy, but I loved the constant ideas of the "silent protector" and the plight of the hero. Music got me pumped, Alfred was awesome, Gordon ruled... so much to chew on.

TDK and Spider 2 = best yet!!! welcome to greatness

X2 = solid like a rock

Spiderman 1 & Ironman = so fun (Goblin suit sniffed sheep balls)
Incredible Hulk and X3 = much potential and right ideas, but ultimately lacking the all-spark
Daredevil, Ghost Rider, Electra = shitty (daredevil had a few great moments)
Original Bat and Supes = classic and beautiful
Ang Hulk = nice actors, but the absorbing man and hulk dogs stunk like chode
Superman Returns = eat shit and die
FF 2 was better than FF 1. Thing looked like a horse's ass
