Is "LAST of a group of IMMORTAL warriors" a contridiction? By definition immortals are exempt from death, unending existence. Which was always my complaint about Highlander. They weren't immortal. There was only had one way they could die. But that still means they aren't exempt from death. But enough semantics. This does sound interesting.

It isn't a contradiction. Read the book.

It's not "the last one alive" but rather "the last one to be born". There are others still alive. I just hope they don't mess this up. And I'm assuming that they're just doing Dark is Rising, and if it does well, they'll do the other books.

I can't wait for this movie. The books are great. Hopefully they do the book justice.

Hey wytworm... don't be an ass! You could have done what aynber did and explained the premise.

jwesty, it's possible that wytworm merely wanted to let maineyac know that it there was no contradiction without giving away any plot points. Leaving the "mystery" might make someone more likely to check out the source material. Just a thought.

I agree with lister. Wytworm was just being helpful, and although the information that aynber gave away maybe obvious (I wouldn't know), it is better to go into a book not knowing that much about it. The author usually doesn't give much away on the back cover. So name calling may only make the person who did it look bad, but hell maybe jwesty was just trying to defend maineyac. I'm not pointing any figers. Its hard to read inflection.

Thank god for the commercial success of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. Now any fantastical, young adult book, whether good like Dark is Rising and Chronicles of Narnia or not so good like Artemis Fowl and His Dark Materials, is getting turned into a movie... Book, it came before the movie.

Hey..Artemis isnt THAT bad! Lets just hope they dont make anymore films from the "Series of Unfortunate Events" series. That film was horrid and did nothing for the book...

Book.....Movie. This is not a bad thing. While I read LOTR (the first time) in the early 70's, I couldn't wait to see the movies & was not disappointed. I know kids that went back and read the books AFTER seing the films. So you see, it's all good.
