I agree that that's what you should have expected for a Thursday evening showing. But unlike Rocky Horror screenings, this was the premiere of the film, and maybe some of the people that went were actually interested in seeing the film, strange as it may be to assume that.
But with audience behavior like this, SoaP won't have to wait very long to be able to start playing exclusively at midnight showings.
Farewell, Snakes on a Plane... you'll be missed.

Let's just call this "My Name is Sam (Beckett)"
And odd that you should mention Voyagers, because there was some sort of biography about Soleil Moon Frye (Punky Brewster) on yesterday, and one of the people interviewed about her was Meeno Peluchi, her brother, who it turns out (I found out thanks to IMDB) was the star of Voyagers. I never knew they were related. And on top of that, their half-brother Sean was in E.T.
Small world.

I'm not surprised at all. What was there left to see of this film after all the months of hype? Did anyone that went to see the film actually laugh at Samuel L Jackson's "MF Snakes on this MF plane" line after having heard it ten thousand times in the last few months and having heard all the hype about how it got included in the movie?
I think the only people that went to see the movie this weekend were all the people that have been adding to the hype. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 69% or more dropoff this coming weekend.
I'll probably check out this movie in a few months on DVD after all the hype has faded into blissful oblivion, and maybe then I'll be able to view it as just a movie and not as an internet-created event.
